December 2007 Archives
Happy Holidays,
Another year has flown by; and the Hallberg household has positively bustled with activity.
Brian is still at the Applied Research Lab at Penn State. Much of his spare time is devoted to baseball. He’s still President of the Tri-County Little League, even though both of the kids are too old to play Little League. He also holds season tickets for our minor league baseball team, the State College Spikes. So from March – September he can be found at a baseball field several nights a week. Brandon has inherited his father’s love of baseball and now umpires for Little League.
Nancy’s office sent her on not one, but two, business trips. I managed some sightseeing on both trips. The adventurer in me enjoyed crossing an awesome swinging bridge 230 feet above a river gorge in Vancouver, Bristish Columbia. And I was in Indianapolis in May, so I toured the Speedway and watched the Indy 500 time trials.
Brandon went to France in March as an exchange student. He stayed in Albertville (in the Alps). And while there, did some sightseeing in Paris and in Torino, Italy. In April, we hosted a French teen here at our house to complete the ‘exchange.’
Our family went to New Mexico in July to attend my brother Greg’s wedding. It was lovely. Greg & Lydia got married on Mom & Dad’s patio. For those of you who’ve seen the view from my parents’ patio, you know why. For those who haven’t - it’s spectacular. For the wedding I insisted that Gretchen wear a dress, something she hadn’t done in years. She hates to wear dresses. So, I made sure I took a photo.
Gretchen’s milestones for 2007:
• Lettered in basketball
• Got her braces off
• Finally got a cell phone of her own.
• Joined a gymnastics team – her first competition will be in Jan. 08.
Brandon’s milestones for 2007:
• Went to France & Italy.
• Umpired for Little League baseball in the spring & summer.
• He’s a high school senior now and has applied to both Boston College and Penn State.
• Passed his AP exams to earn college credits already.
