Mark has spent more than 20 years in public education. As a teacher, he was a band director, math teacher and coach at Hallandale High School in Broward County, Florida. He produced 2 all-state band members and 2 all-region track and field athletes during his one year tenure at Hallandale.

After being furloughed in an attrition of 240 teaching positions, he returned home to Pennsylvania and was named Director of Bands in the Montgomery Area School District in Lycoming County. As a band director in Montgomery, he produced numerous PMEA District and Regional band and orchestra members, and had 2 students selected for participation in the PMEA All-State festival. He hosted various county band festivals, as well as a critically acclaimed and financially successful District Orchestra festival.

His other responsibilities included being an assistant track and field coach; coordination of lighting and audio for all school functions; homecoming and graduation logistics coordination; serving on various committees; establishing and maintaining the school districts first web presence; and completing his administrative internship in the high school.

After completing his Master of Education degree in Music Education, Mark saw the future of instructional technology in education, and began to move into that area. He originated the position of technology coordinator in the Montgomery School District, and eventually taught computer science as well as serving as the district's first technology coordinator. He presented papers and seminars at the Eastern Pennsylvania Educational Computing Conference, and the PSBA/PASBO technology conference. In 1998 he left the district to accept a full-time position as technology coordinator in the Midd-West School District in Middleburg, PA.

Mark worked for the Midd-West district from August of 1998 until his departure in October, 2002. While there, he defined the role of technology coordinator; initiated several professional development programs for teachers in the use of technology; lead the development plan for technology infrastructure; developed the district's first AUP; served as a state grant reviewer; increased the district e-rate funding from 60% to 90%; developed board policy regarding technology; and oversaw the expansion of the computer implementation. He was selected to participate in the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators symposium in Denver, CO, and was actively involved in technology standards development at the local and state level.

After Midd-West, Mark worked as a substitute professional in the Williamsport Area School District, and subsequently became an adjunct instructor in computer science at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport. After three semesters at Penn College, he began his current position as an information technology trainer with the Training Services group of ITS at Penn State University.

At the University, Mark is actively involved in the Web Standards Group, and attends other group meetings that are related to the Internet and web development technologies. He was chosen by his senior director to represent training services on the Web Liaisons Committee, and was invited to be a member of the Web Conference committee, where he chairs the tutorials sub-committee. He is the lead training specialist on Adobe Connect Professional, the Blogs at Penn State project, and the Penn State Wikispaces project.
