Absolute identity with one's cause is the first and great condition of successful leadership.

- Woodrow Wilson

I think this quote is important to talk about because it does focus on making sure you identify with the cause you are trying to lead.  It sounds like it should be a no-brainer, but it definitely makes alot of sense that leadership without identifying and relating to a cause would be worthless.  Imagine if your boss does not care about the business, are you going to be motivated to follow him?  If I was coaching soccer and everyone knew I could care less about soccer and the team, would they still follow me?

I just think it is a good quote because it reminds leaders that they need to make sure they are relating and staying close to the cause when they are leading to be the most effective.
