01- 'Flowering Plant Reproduction' Online Lab

Flowers are all around us. Just think about your sick relative in hospital, your loved one on Valentine's day, or for the guys who are just trying to get out of trouble. You may like Jasmine tea, eat cereal in the morning, use lavender soap, or enjoy a juicy apple from time to time. So perhaps unbeknown to you, flowering plants play an important part of our everyday lives.

But, have you ever wondered how plants do it? Or perhaps you have even been a victim of plant sex?

Well, here is your chance to learn about the reproductive process of a group of plants known as Angiosperms or 'flowering plants'.

Watch this short introduction video to learn about the material to be covered in this lab.

I think one thing that would really help here are some sort of navigational prompts ... perhaps they could be set off via a new div so they sit in a box with a bit of background shading? Just a thought but when I arrive here I am a little confused as to where to head next.

BTW, I saw a bit of the video the other day and Kim is doing an amazing job on it. It is so cool!

Agreed on the nav help. My current question to reviewers is: where do we put it? At first I thought in the home page of the blog but then I thought perhaps it should go as the first content piece in ANGEL?

Oh yeah- the video looks great. Kim has really nailed this one and I think it will really give the content the opening 'pop' that we are hoping for.

I agree with Cole here that there is a need for navigation help. Also like the video - thanks Kim and Pat!!

Another small thing, perhaps we should change the link from 'read this' to 'click here' - keep this terminology throughout all the links. Also may be better if the linked files open up in an independent window outside of Angel. Then students can keep it open if they want to refer to it.

I like the clean layout of the pages. The use of varying forms of media help hold the learner's attention.

While the use of serif fonts is OK for print materials, sans serif is more easily read online. You might rethink using the serif font.

You might also rethink using the docx file format for the assessment. Many students are still using older versions of Word that do not support the docx format.
