Move in day can be really crazy! It always seems like everyone shows up at the same time. The OLs and RAs try and keep the situation under control as best as we can. It does get a little hectic when we are unloading 5 or 6 cars at the same time. I worked in Almy all day and we were lucky enough to not have made a mistake all day. What we consider a mistake would be taking one person's belongings to the wrong room.

I think that the OLs worked very well together and we worked very hard to make sure your move in went smoothly. Almost every parent went out of their way to thank us. It makes what we do totally worth the time! We'll be seeing a lot more of you guys throughout the weekend. Today, we'll be in blue, so if you see one of us don't be afraid to say hi and ask questions!

You guys won't believe how much preparation we have to do before you all arrive on campus. The RAs are making sure that all of the rooms are adequate for you to move in. As an OL, we are going through training classes all day to make sure that we are prepared for the chaos the tomorrow will be.

Moving causes stress to all of you and your parents. It is a difficult and hectic time. We are here to make sure that your moving process goes as smoothly as possible. We'll be there to help empty your cars and deliver everything to your room.

If you have any questions, please ask any of the Orientation Leaders or an RA. We are there to help as much as possible and to answer any questions that you may have. We try and ease your mind and decrease some stresses about college. We want to help and make friends along the way. Please don't be afraid to stop and talk to one of the upper class man because that is why we are there!

Today marks the first day that students are allowed to move into their new rooms on campus (besides the RAs of course). All of the students who have jobs on campus are moving in and getting settled so that they can begin their training process. The RAs were lucky enough to be able to move in on Friday because they have a long training process as well. Tomorrow, all of the Orientation Leaders are allowed to move in, so tomorrow is my day! The Orientation Leaders (OLs) have to go through their own training process. They are the ones who will be helping all of the freshmen empty their cars and move into their dorm rooms! Wednesday is the day for the fall athletes. They have to start practices as soon as possible because the season starts very soon.

Thursday is the day you all have been waiting for, move in day for the freshmen! You all finally get to take that next step and move into your dorm room. It truly is one of the greatest feelings in the world! It's a feeling of freedom. You can finally be on your own, make your own decisions, meet new friends and do what you want. Just don't go too crazy!

One week from today, all of the freshmen will be taking that next step in their lives. Next Thursday is move in day! I'm sure that all of you are extremely excited to move in and meet your roommates and the people that live around you. I know how I felt at this point last year. The only way to describe my emotions would be to say that I was jumping out of my skin! I know quite a few people that are heading to Behrend for their freshman year of college, and they seem to be asking me questions about classes, the dorms, and what to do on the weekends. The more questions they ask, the more excited they get! I even get more and more excited for school with the questions they ask. I am SO ready to go back to school as I'm sure you all are as well!

I don't mind answering questions! I actually enjoy helping others out! So please, if you have questions about move in day or orientation weekend, don't be afraid to ask me!

Move in day is only a week away. Every time I talk to one of my friends, sophomore or freshman, no one can believe that it's already that time to head to college. It's absolutely wild that classes start in 12 days! I feel like I took my finals a week ago and yet, it's time to start all over again! I know I've had my countdown going since the day I left all of my amazing friends at Behrend. Now, my countdown is into the single digits. I continue to ask myself where my summer went! I packed already and keep stressing that there is something I'm forgetting!

I've got my books, school supplies and new clothes! I'm ready to go back, are you?!

When packing, you really have to think about things you use and things you haven't touched in a year. Your dorm rooms don't have as much space as your bedroom does, especially since you have to share that room with another person. The way I pack is if I haven't worn something in the past few years, I don't pack it. Don't be afraid to leave things at home. Some things you think you may need at college, you will never touch. It's not necessary to pack your room to max capacity. Just pack the essentials. Bring big bins to store things in under your bed. Use every piece of space you have wisely!

Living in Erie, it's smart to have sweatshirts and sweatpants all year round. Trust me, you will get good use out of them! I know I started wearing jeans and sweatpants by the end of September. Pack smart and think about what can get the best use. Take your time while packing and if you have any questions, ASK!!!!!! :)

It's already August, and I'm just wondering where the time has gone! This summer just flew by! College truly is right around the corner. Move in day is just 12 days away, and I know I can't believe it's that time again! My friends and I have been counting down the days since we moved out. None of us can believe that we can all be together again so soon. I know how excited I am now, but I was ten times more excited before freshman year! I was so ready to move out and be on my own! I'm sure all of you are jumping out of your skin just like I was. It's about time to start packing so that you can move out!

Prepare yourself to be on your own and make your own decisions! Good luck this year and if you have any questions, please ask!!

College is all about learning to be on your own. You have to learn to not depend on your parents to make decisions for you. It's all on you. You have to make your own decisions, ALL OF THEM! That means deciding whether to go to class or do your homework or just forget about it all. Mom and Dad aren't breathing down your neck any more. You can do things on your own time, but it's up to you to make sure it gets done. You have to make decisions about who are the right and wrong people to surround yourself with. You have to learn what places you want to find yourself and the wrong places to be. These are all things that you have to figure out on your own. You may learn things the hard way by making wrong decisions or you can learn it the easy way by happening to make the right choice.

You have to think twice about everything. Don't just act on what your thinking at the time. Take your time! Make good choices! :)

Behrend has a ton of sports to offer! It does require a lot of work to be involved in a sport, but in my opinion it's totally worth it. Having an activity like that pushes me to get my things done. I know that I have to get my homework done before I go to practice or games.

Believe it or not the teams at Behrend are really good! Several of them have more than one AMCC title and quite a few have made appearances in the NCAA tournament. I had the privilege of writing about all of these fantastic sports my first year. I realized how good these teams really are and how hard they work. I got to go out to a lot of games and support them! My theory is just because you may not know them personally doesn't mean that you aren't classmates. I loved going out to all of the games because I just love sports! I got to meet a lot of the athletes as well. A lot of them have become good friends of mine now!

The sports at Behrend are awesome! Being involved in them is great, but supporting them is just as fun. If you ever get a chance, go out to a game or two. You can have a good time and possibly meet some friends along the way!

If you thought nap time was only for preschoolers, then you thought wrong! Nap time was probably the best part of my day! I used to get up early for classes and then come back to my room while my roommate was in class. Instead of hitting the books and getting my homework done right off the bat, I had to take a nap. I needed that break to refresh my brain to get everything done. It was never very long, but just enough to make me feel better. Then I was always ready to get everything done because it was like I had woken up for the day all over again. It definitely helped me survive the stress of classes and extra curricular activities. It's probably the best thing for you when you're trying to deal with as much as you need to in college.

Take naps and refresh your brain! I can guarantee that you won't regret taking a short nap to get through the day.
