  • On The Agenda In San Diego
FAME will hold two meetings at this summer's CoSIDA Workshop. The first on Sunday, July 1 from 4 to 5 p.m. will give us a chance to discuss topics pulled from a survey on the listserv. On the agenda are:
    • Opening Remarks by College of New Jersey SID Ann King. You'll remember Ann's essay on meeting her husband Tracy, an assistant SID at Seton Hall, during a CoSIDA Workshop. Ann is a college division representative on the CoSIDA Board.
    • Lisa Nelson will share her experience while working at Minnesota with Title 9. Lisa is now the Publications Coordinator at Notre Dame.
    • Courtney Morrison-Archer's comments on selling yourself on the job are based on her career including directing media relations for this year's FedEx Orange Bowl (one of the lead stories on this page) and her role as the director of the local organizing effort at the 1997 NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four in Cincinnati.
    • A discussion on balancing work with raising children, connecting with significant others and family members and life outside the job will be led by King and Syracuse SID Sue Edson who, with husband Rob, is raising a two-year-old son, Thomas.
    • Marla Rodriguez, who moved this year from Rutgers to become SID at the University of Denver, will share her views on what I know now that I wish I knew when I started.
During the second meeting on Monday, July 2 between 6 and 7 p.m. we'll have more time to network and plan future projects. Both meetings will be held in the Newport Beach Room across from the elevator on the second floor at the Marriott.
