This week, I am attending O'Reilly's Open Source Conference (OSCON 2007) in Portland, OR. This is the first opportunity that I have had to travel with the iPhone. So far, it has been an invaluable travel companion.
I started to realize how useful it was while I was in Cincinnati, waiting for my flight to depart. Here are some of the things I did on the iPhone while waiting:
- Checked into my hotel
- Checked my flight information
- Read and responded to email
- Planned my week's schedule at OSCON
- Made notes and to do items for the week
- Caught up on the iPhone Trial blogs and wiki

Hey Michael,
Did you ever report back - we're getting iPhones down here in Oz on the black/ebay market - and I'm looking at ditching my Dopod...love to know how it went.

iPhones are nice, but there are such better products available today at the same price. In reality, the iPhone doesn't do half as much as it's competitors do, and theres tons of hoops you have to jump through with locked services, etc.
But all in all, yes, having such a thing is extremely helpful.

Thanks for sharing your experience on the IPhone as a travel gadget. I hear they are pretty cool indeed. Motorola and At & T have new phones comng out too but I don't think they will match the iPhone for reliability or features. If oyu are looking for a another top of the link travel partner gadget and in a foreign speaking country you have got to get your hands on a electronic pocket language translator, although they do not have indigenous languages. For that you may just have to travel to the outback or if you are going to Europe, the gadget is perfect and you can enroll in new language immersion program, in essence "study abroad" that may be interesting to you. They include Italian Courses in Florence, Milan, Rome Italy and more language courses such as French, German, Arabic, Portuguese, Chinese, Greek in Europe, Asia, and South America.
