About me:

I am currently a graduate student at Penn State University. I am studying Spanish Linguistics, with a particular focus on Second Language Acquisition. I graduated from Baylor University in 2002 with a double major in Spanish and English and a teaching degree in Secondary Education. After teaching Spanish in High School for one year, my husband and I moved to Lima, Peru in order to serve at an orphanage and work with various social justice organizations. Upon returning to the U.S. in 2005, I went back to school to pursue my interests in Spanish language, literature, culture and teaching. I received my M.A. in Hispanic Languages and Literature from Stony Brook University in 2007. During my two years at Stony Brook, I also taught undergraduate Spanish courses as a graduate teaching assistant.

In addition to my academic and research interests in linguistics, other activities I enjoy include running, skiing, hiking, scuba diving, traveling, learning languages, politics and reading.
