At Penn State many of these folks are housed in the Department of Film/Video and Media Studies in the College of Communication and if you become interested in the technical, aesthetic, and cultural aspects of film you should take further courses over there.  In many of the language and literature departments in the College of the Liberal Arts, you will also find scholars who are interested in film generally and in specific national contexts.
