I am a volunteer EMT with Centre LifeLink EMS, Inc. in
the community of State College PA where I am an Officer-in-Charge and Field
Training Officer. Besides being an EMT, I am also an instructor and
have helped teach EMT courses and continuing education programs from time
to time. While at Penn State I organized the Emergency Medical Services Association,
a student organization, in 1993, and the EMS Alumni Interest Group
in 1999. I have also served on the board of directors of the National Collegiate EMS Foundation since
the Board's inception in 1995.
I am a Boy Scout volunteer currently registered as Advisor of Venture Crew 325 in
State College, as member of the Juniata Valley Council Executive Board,
and with the Mount Nittany District as Unit Commissioner. In 2001
& 2005 I volunteered for the Health and Safety Staff at the National
Jamboree. From 1989 to 1991 I was an administrative director for the
Resica Falls Scout Reservation.
It is a 4,000 acre camp in the Poconos now owned by the Cradle of Liberty
Council in the Philadelphia area. Many years ago I served as an Assistant
Scoutmaster for Troop 1 in Clearfield PA, and worked three years on the staff
of the local camp there, Camp Mountain
Run of the Bucktail Council. In
this Council I became a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow.
Other community organizations that I have belonged to include the
American Legion where I was
the Pleasant Gap PA Post 867 Commander for 1996-97 and again in 2001-02.
I am a member of State College Lodge 700 of the Free & Accepted Masons,
Bellefonte Chapter 211 of the Royal Arch Masons, Nittany Council 57 of the
Royal & Select Masons, Constans Commandery 33 in Bellefonte PA of the
Knights Templar, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest 129 in Centre County PA.
I am a former member of Mt. Joy Grange 584 and the Pennsylvania State
Grange.
I am a life member of the Clearfield Volunteer Fire
Company Number 1 where I served as an active volunteer with the ambulance
and rescue service from 1982 to 1984.
In other youth group volunteer activities I served as the Chapter Advisor
from 1990 to 1995 of the Brotherhood Chapter, Order of DeMolay, which I helped to originally
found in 1983 in State College PA. I also served as an advisor in Clearfield
Chapter and as advisor of the Pennsylvania State Officer Corps for several
years.
In 1992 I was nominated by the Republican Party in the primary election
to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Although I did not defeat the incumbent in the General Election that year,
I have volunteered in many other campaigns. Since then I have served
as a precinct chair in the local municipality.
