MIT's Technology Review

If you haven't visited MIT's Technology Review, spend some time there. The articles are always interesting. Visit the infotech section and check out the videos. Lots of interesting ideas such as machine listening, virtual reality and mapping, sociometrics, evolutionary design by computers. Jeff Han talks about inventing the multitouch screen. Bruce Sterling explains why many technology designs seem hostile. Tim Berners-Lee talks about the Semantic Web. The videos are short -- 1 to 8 minutes -- but contain much food for thought. I also recommend the special reports on 10 emerging technologies.

Mashup fun with Chris Millet

One of my favorite sessions at the Web Conference this year was the presentation by Chris Millet titled API's, Mashups, and the New Interconnected Web -- which he retitled "Fun with Mashups." Chris demonstrated how you can leverage search, maps, social bookmarking, photo sharing, and other collaboration tools to create "a whole new landscape of interconnected services" using RSS, web services, and freely available API's. Mashups can offer new opportunities for marketing and reaching our audiences in new and interesting ways.
