Welcome to the iTwo Blog
Institutional Insight (iTwo) will change the way Penn State decision-makers can look at and manipulate institutional data. It will bring together previously disparate and hard-to-connect information and facilitate data-driven decisions.
This blog will serve as a record of changes and updates as the various iTwo models are developed and implemented.
The power of iTwo resides in a layer of metadata that sits between the warehouse and the user. All the joins between warehouse tables happen in the metadata. Users no longer need to know where and when to join.
During Spring of 2011, the following two projects are in full swing:
- Student Enrollment
- Metadata has been stabilized and is now in a release schedule
- Prototype users are producing reports in Answers, the query component of iTwo.
- Training has been offered through ITS Training since November.
- Columns within SE have been documented on the web.
- The dashboards using the SE metadata have started a pilot phase.
- IBIS Financial
- The financial pilot group has been meeting since summer 2010.
- Metadata is in test and is being finalized for broader pilot release.
Student Bio is in the start up phase. Relevant tables and fields are in the process of being identified for the metadata.
