Lingzhou Xue is an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Penn State University. He is also the Assistant Director of the National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS). He received his B.Sc. in Statistics from Peking University in 2008 and his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Minnesota in 2012. He was a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University from 2012-2013. He is an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and a recipient of Bernoulli Society (BS) 2019 New Researcher Award. His research areas include high-dimensional statistics, optimization, econometrics, and statistical applications in biomedical science and geoscience.

His papers have been published in top-tier journals in statistics and data science, including The Annals of Statistics, Biometrika, eLife, Journal of the American Statistical Association, Journal of Econometrics, Neural Computation, Proceedings of the IEEE, etc. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Simons Foundation.
