 Secondary text: Functional Analysis, Sobolev Spaces and Partial Differential Equations, by Haim Brezis, Springer Universitext, ISBN 9780387709130

Another recommended text: Introductory Real Analysis, A.N. Kolmogorov, S.V. Fomin.

Course content Course Topics:

Topological vector spaces, completeness, convexity, duality, banach algebras, bounded operators on Hilbert space, the spectral theorem, unbounded operators, applications.

Classroom We meet in  104 Osmond.

Prerequisites MATH 501

Grading The course grade will be based on homeworks, midterm, and final.
