Courses Taught

I have been a teaching assistant at the Department of Anthropology at Penn State for several semesters. I TA'd ANTH45 Introduction to Cultural Anthropology three times, under Dr. Patricia Johnson. I was also the teaching assistant for the Comparative Social Organization course (ANTH450w). This is a writing-intensive course that presented challenges unique to that format. In this portfolio, however, I will focus on the introductory course.

I  had the opportunity to teach Anth45 myself three summer semesters. The first time I taught it was my first time designing a course from scratch. I used a textbook as guidance, and replicated what I had seen in other courses. This year, I got more creative. I designed the course to reach the goals in my teaching philosophy, included much content beyond the textbook, and incorporated the use of technology.

My complete teaching and work history is available on my cv.
