Course objectives:

Exhibit a basic knowledge of public policy development related to dietetics   (DPD requirement)

Explain a public policy position regarding dietetics in a letter to a legislator (DPD requirement)

Evaluate ethical considerations for a dietetics professional including ethics of care  (DPD req't)

Use current internet and information technologies  (DPD requirement)

Have knowledge of current reimbursement issues, policies and regulations (DPD requirement)

Exhibit a knowledge of negotiation techniques (DPD requirement)

Develop a personal professional portfolio including updated resume (DPD requirement)

Identify the stages and procedures to apply for a dietetic internship

Practice problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in the decision of whether to apply for a dietetic internship, the year to apply and the choice of which to apply to and order of priority

Develop a letter of application for a dietetic internship, graduate school, job, etc.

Complete a dietetic internship application on the generic ADA electronic form

Compare characteristics of selected professional organizations including the ADA

Practice problem-solving skills as career alternatives and goals are formulated and evaluated

Develop the attitude of a professional in nutrition/dietetics
