Why "Jakob"?  Jared and Lyndsey both like the name.  Why the "k"?  "Jacob" is a very popular name, and besides, "Jakob" is the German variant and we wanted to honor his ancestry.

Why "Mitchell"?  Lyndsey's great-grandma's maiden name was DeMitchell, so this is a great way to honor her.

March 8, 2008: My first birthday! We had a big party at Perkins Restaurant in Hazleton.

March 10, 2008: 12-month checkup. Stats: 24 pounds, 14 ounces, 30 1/2 inches tall, head circumference 46.8 cm. The doctor saw two of my top teeth - one must have popped out in the past two days, and one more is on its way. I can have eggs now, so Mommy let me try some McDonald's Big Breakfast. Yummy!

March 14, 2008: Cardiology appointment. Remember my heart murmur? The doctor can't hear it anymore, so he thinks that the holes in my ventricle wall have closed up. We'll check it in another year! Oh, and I FREAKED OUT on Mommy tonight because my teeth hurt.

March 15, 2008: Mommy put together my Play and Learn chair. I don't quite understand the need to sit while I play, but I like it anyway.

March 15, 2008: Don't ever tell me there is no more apple crisp! I'll throw a temper tantrum!

March 16, 2008: I flung myself out of my stroller during Palm Sunday mass (naturally, right when the priests were praying and the church was silent as a tomb) and here is the bruise that appeared...

March 17, 2008: My first real St. Patrick's Day (the first one, Mommy was in the ER)

March 18, 2008: Mommy has started calling me Mister Messy Monkey because I make messes and climb on things I shouldn't

March 21, 2008: Mommy rearranged my gate and now I have more space to play and love looking outside

March 22, 2008: A spring snowstorm left us some snow and a chance to try my new baby toboggin. Mommy also helped me dye Easter eggs for tomorrow

March 23, 2008: My 2nd Easter. I like deviled eggs!

March 25, 2008: I can get to the kitchen in no time at all if Daddy forgets to set the gate up!

March 30, 2008: Mommy bought me some (large, non-toxic, washable) crayons. I created my first masterpiece today, although most of it ended up on the end table.

April 5, 2008: Yay! It's spring! Mommy, Aunt Adrienne, & Uncle Josh took me outside to walk around. And, I made more art but I still want to eat the crayons.

April 10, 2008: I took a nice long nap and Mommy decided we should have a picnic on such a nice day. Then, she gave me a frozen peach, milk, and ice cream smoothie. I got more on me and the floor than I did in my belly. I am now being transitioned into size 5 diapers (I'm like 27 pounds now) and soon I'll be going into 2T clothes.

April 11, 2008: Mommy gave me pesto tortellini. Yums!
