This is what I do...

As the Associate Director in the Division of Student Affairs and Director of Student Life at Penn State Altoona, I serve as second in line to the Chief Student Affairs Officer for the supervision and oversight of Division operations and programs.  I direct and/or advise all functions related to the Office of Student Life, including New Student Orientation, Cultural and Performing Arts Programs, Campus Activities Board (CAB)/Late Night events, Student Organization Development and Programming, Leadership Development Programs, Alternative Spring Break Trips, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Off-Campus Housing, Greek Life, and the Student Government Association.

In addition, I direct all functions related to the Office of Judicial Affairs, including investigations of individual and student organization allegations of misconduct, training of University Hearing Board members, adjudication of cases, and assignment of appropriate educational, developmental and punitive sanctions. 

I also direct all functions related to the Office of  International & Exchange Student Services, including arrival arrangements, visa documentation, New International Student Orientation, advising the International Student Association (ISA), and coordinating all related programs.  My other responsibilities include coordinating the Student Affairs Distinguished Speaker Series, oversight and direction of Division-wide committees including: construction and renovations, new employee orientation, parent-college relations, and serving as the faculty secretary for Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honorary.



Community Service Activities...

I currently serve on the following boards and committees:

Logan Township Community Policing Partnership – Appointed by Logan Township Supervisors and Chief of Police to serve as a community stakeholder in training and examination of community policing efforts - 2004 to present.

Principle Investigator, Enforcing the Underage Drinking Law (EUDL) Grant
- Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency (OJJDP) and Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement  (BLCE) – received Federal and Commonwealth grant for $15,720.00 for education, training, and programming efforts to reduce underage drinking law violations - 2003 & 2004 .

Blair County Behavioral Health and Mental Retardation Advisory Board – Appointed by Blair County
Commissioners to a second three-year term.  The Board coordinates mental health services and agencies throughout Blair County, including pursuit of funding opportunities and allocation of resources – 2003 to present; Chairman, Behavioral Health/Drug & Alcohol Committee, July 2005 to July 2007; Vice Chairman, Advisory Board, July 2006 to July.


Blair County Republican Committee
– Logan Township, Sixth Precinct Representative; By-Laws Committee Member – 2002 to 2004; Executive Board At-Large Member/Voter Registration and Events Committee Member 2004 to present (re-elected to Committee in 2006 for a third two year term).

American College Personnel Association – Commission XV – Campus Judicial Affairs and Legal Issues
– Directorate Body Member, Research Committee Chair – 2002 to 2004 and 2007-2008.


Boy Scouts of America - Penn’s Woods Council – Member, Board of Directors and Chief Logan District Chairman ― 2000 to 2002; Recipient of Quality District Award ― 2001; Chief Logan District Vice Chairman/Secretary, Advancement Committee Member, Finance Committee Member – 2003 to 2005; Chairman, Chief  Logan District Advancement Committee and member of Penn's Woods Council Advancement Committee - 2005 to present; Appointed as Penn's Woods Council International Representative/Board of Directors Member at Large- 2007 to present; Recipient of Chief Logan District Award of Merit - 2007.

       Blair Countians for Drug Free Communities –Education Committee member ― 2000 to present;  Steering /Strategic Planning
       Committee ― 2001 to 2004; Underage Drinking Workgroup – 2003 to 2004; Committee to Prevent Underage Drinking and DUI
       – 2004 to present; Alcohol  Purchase Survey Coordinator, 2005, 2006;  Judicial Candidate’s Forum Coordinator, 2005, 2007;
       Vice Chairman, 2005 to present.

       Pennsylvania College Personnel Association - Conference Registration Chair ― 2000.

       St. Therese's Catholic Church, Lector - 1992 to present.

D.Ed. in Counselor Education at The Pennsylvania State University (Student Affairs track/cognate in Pedagogy); 1999.

M.A. in College Student Personnel/Higher Education from Bowling Green State University; 1984.
