Christmas sells. It's a given fact that people are happier around the holidays, but is it ok for Starbucks to sell Christmas drinks in November?! Pumpkin Spice Lattes are totally appropriate around Halloween and Thanksgiving, but should I be drinking Peppermint Mochas and Eggnog Lattes out of red and white snowy cups the day after Halloween? I don't think so! Here's how it all started:
I was sitting in my 9.30 movie class downtown, when one of my classmates walked in with a red coffee to go cup. I figured it was just some random coffee shop from downtown, but when I got closer I noticed the Starbucks logo. It got me so excited to see their new holiday cups that I just knew I would have to run to Starbucks right after class as I am a sucker for all things Christmas.
I was just going to get a coffee which is only a dollar or two, but instead I saw their new Holiday drinks and again, as I am a sucker for all things Christmas, I paid the extra 2 dollars for the Peppermint Mocha. They suckered me in using pathos; feeding on my happy emotions towards Christmas to buy their overpriced drinks. Oh well! It was super yummy!
I have a peppermint mocha almost every day now and I couldn't be happier about it :)
