L. Edward Day, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and Sociology
The Pennsylvania State University, Altoona College


Dr. Day's diverse research agenda focuses on harms created by micro- and macro-level social forces and on their methods of prevention. His published research covers delinquency, suicide, genocide, and ethnic identity. His is the founding and senior editor of the journal War Crimes, Genocide & Crimes against Humanity.

A dedicated teacher, Dr. Day has twice been nominated for university wide teaching awards at Penn State. He was the recipient of the Grace D. Long award for faculty excellence at Penn State Altoona in 2006 and the Teacher of the Year award from the Justice Association at Penn State's University Park campus in 1999.

He served as Director of the Secretariat of the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences from 2003 until 2007 and received the Founders' Award from that organization in 2008. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.

He received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Washington in 1992.
