2. How will you integrate the arts into your future lessons?

I can use iMovie and similar programs to allow students to present projects. I will also use paper mache to create masks for kids to do reader theater. I can also use art museums to teach any subject.

I will slip art projects into the curriculum to help diversify instruction.

5. Why will you integrate the arts into your future curricula?-"how might you integrate?" open ended and perhaps the opposite-do you plan? Why or why not-

Because it keeps students engaged!!!

4/30/11 10:26PM View Responses

It is important for all students to be "well rounded." I think the arts as a whole (art/music/drama) expands children's minds and helps them think out of the box.

4/29/11 7:22AM View Responses

By making room for it in all of my lessons and including as many ways of expression available at all times for my students.

4/29/11 1:22AM View Responses

I feel that it is important to use multiple sign systems in education.

4/28/11 11:02PM View Responses

I would integrate arts into my future curricula because students have a variety of different learning needs. Some students are more comfortable expressing themselves through art, than they are in a written response. In this way, I will use art as an outlet, and also as a main source, in testing students comprehension. Art will be a more enjoyable and expressive activity for the students.

4/28/11 10:19PM View Responses

4/27/11 9:18PM View Responses

It is important to adhere to students who learn through art and make sure they are successful in the classroom.

I will incorporate art into many different subject areas.

4/27/11 9:16PM View Responses

Because the arts are slowly dying, and students don't appreciate them as much as in the past. The arts are a critical component of learning.

6. What recommendations do you have regarding student experiences in AED 303?

Stay on top of your work and put time and effort into everything you do because it will all be useful in the future!

I would recommend doing more things in class that pertain to teaching such as writing more lesson plans and doing more arts and crafts that could be used in a classroom. The first half of the semester was very dry and I did not take much out of it since we really only worked on journal entries and talked in class about art(painters).

4/29/11 7:24AM View Responses

It was really great!

I feel that our instructor wasn't qualified to be a college professor. She was very petty and never prepared for class. She would prepare a PowerPoint but the computer would never work. So, after once or twice of this happening, one would think that she would try a different route. She never did. We didn't do near the amount of art projects that the other sections did. I just left feeling short changed.

4/28/11 11:04PM View Responses

The projects were mainly loaded in the second half of the semester. Perhaps this could be changed in the syllabus so that the work is more even distributed. Advice for future students- stay on top of your work. Don't fall behind in journal activities. Take it seriously- even though it is an art class (should be fun), the work still counts for a grade.

4/28/11 10:20PM View Responses

That even if you don't think you are good at art, to keep an open mind about it and to try because it can be really useful within the everyday classroom

4/28/11 8:32PM View Responses

I know in other sections they focused a lot on actual art projects and how to make and create different art works. This would be much more relevant to becoming a classroom teacher than reading about different types of art and different artists. The whole first part of the semester, to me, had nothing really to do with integrating arts into the classroom. There should have been more art projects that we learned that we could someday use in our own classroom. I fell like I left the class not learning what I expected to learn. Making particular art works.

4/28/11 8:13PM View Responses

make the class a bit more focused on the art techniques themselves and less on the readings

Three main assignments are due at the end of the course. It is very overwhelming because there is so much other stuff going on across the block at that time. The Bennett Center, Individual Unit Plans and rationale book could have been spaced out more to help the students.

assign imovie earlier spread out assignment due dates

4/28/11 11:05AM View Responses

Start imovie early...it takes forever!

4/28/11 10:47AM View Responses

There was alot of projects in a short amount of time, so either allow more time to work on projects or eliminate some in the future.

4/28/11 6:28AM View Responses

Spread assignments out more in the future instead of having most major projects during the last week or two of the semester.
