Okay ... so I read the NYTimes regularly (though I don't always read it all in one day). Here's an article that describes a company that will track the use of copyrighted material that is used on the Internet. I like it. The motives are strictly to police the situation ...

Here's an article about students who are rallying for free access to files - all kinds of files. Based on the info in the article, it seems the org would be better off w/just one focus. I think I will put this book on my reading list though "Free Culture".

The other thing to note here is that some people make a living as musicians and how are they going to make money if they make all of their product available for free? Sure they could tour and sell other merchandising ... but the focus is on the music.
There has to be another option to satisfy both the artist and the consumer.

This is an interesting contempt case ... the judge is ordering the reporter to produce a story ...

Some people take the risk thinking that they will beat the system, but it's still a risk and this was proved costly.

This was interesting because as the article states, it is unusual for a judge to interfere with the publishing or airing of a news story.
