Hillary Lewis - President
Hello Happy Valley!
My name is Hillary Lewis, and I am running for UPUA president! I grew up in
West Palm Beach, Florida, but much to my excitement, I have recently become a
resident of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I am a junior that has
been dedicated to the traditions and Alma Mater of “Dear Old State” for the
past three years and counting…
Since Freshman year, I have been active with a variety of Penn State students.
From being on the archery team freshman year to being a Lion Scout to being an
active member in my sorority Pi Beta Phi, I truly have attempted to partake in
all aspects of student engagement. I have also studied abroad, been a THON
Captain, and starting last semester, I made the decision to run for UPUA
At-Large representative. I was elected to serve on the inaugural UPUA
assembly. I played an active role in orchestrating events such as the Rally in
the Rotunda, a day in which students go to Harrisburg to ask for higher
tuition appropriations. I also was head of the UPUA Governmental Affairs
Committee. Currently, I am a junior majoring in International Politics and
Public Relations with a minor in Spanish.
With my experience in politics, I know that I would be a strong and dedicated
leader to the 42,000 students that make up University Park! So, vote for me,
and remember student representation is your voice, so use it!
For the Future that WE wait!
Love you Penn State,
Hillary Lewis
Franklin Keller - Vice President
Hello - I'm Frank Keller - the "F" in the fandlewis campaign for action. North
of Pittsburgh is where I call home, but for the majority of the past three
years, I have been an observer of and proponent of change in Happy Valley.
I've always enjoyed being involved - my candidacy is no different. With regard
to curricular activities, I'm a Finance major with concurrent minors in
Economics and Classical Studies (CAMS). Why the Classics? Why not? I am
currently working on a thesis to be published in an
upcoming
book.
My leadership experience at Penn State includes, as a sophomore, being the
chapter president of Kappa Alpha Order and the University Relations Chair for
the Interfraternity Council. During this time, our chapter was awarded "Most
Improved" and "Most Philanthropic" by our national organization (out of 128
active chapters).
With the IFC, I was involved with the referendum which led to the eventual rise
of the UPUA. I took my experiences and brought it to the IFC executive board
where I currently serve as the Executive Vice President. In this capacity, I
have been leading a committee of standing chairmen to new and creative projects
while helping chapters
deal
with pressing issues. I also sat in the assembly of the UPUA this past
session as the IFC representative to the organization.
This summer I will be working on Wall Street for Lehman Brothers and completing
my thesis research.
Finally, I just want to say that I consider myself to be a pretty normal guy. I
like football and domestic beers; I play guitar and I pride myself on doing what
I say I am going to do. Some call that old-fashioned - I call it not being a
hypocrite. Regardless, I want what we all want - something tangible. Because
something is a whole hell of a lot more
than
nothing.
