Hey Seniors & Transfers: It's Your Turn for a Grade!

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

For Seniors the graduation ceremony will soon be over and your name will be added to the prestigious list of men and women who have earned degrees from The Pennsylvania State University. The chronicle of graduates from the New Kensington campus dates from 1960, when Penn State New Kensington graduated twenty-eight students in its first class. Now, forty-nine years later, Penn State New Kensington has 10,254 alumni who attended the campus and received master's, bachelor's and associate degrees. The significance of the occasion is that you have achieved a worthy goal and joined one of the largest and most prestigious groups of college graduates in the world.

For those leaving us to pursue their final two years on another campus, you aren't done yet, but we are confident that you have the solid base to achieve your academic goals and join your colleagues as proud graduates of Penn State University.

I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve you as the Penn State New Kensington campus Chancellor during your final year here.   The pride I feel as we work through these final celebrations of your accomplishments is nothing compared to that of the faculty, staff, administration, and alumni, who helped you achieve your academic goals on our campus. On behalf of all of us at PSNK, I congratulate you and hope that your years with us were memorable.  And, I hope you carry away with you the pride and sense of attachment that is carried by so many of our students.   Finally, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.  We all have a vested interest in your success.

My blog today serves a two-fold purpose: a farewell to you and to ask that you share with us a short story about your experience here that you think you'll never forget.  What happened that really was special for you?  And, what could we have done better to meet your expectations?   We've graded you in every class.  Now it's your turn to grade us. Did we meet your expectations? And how can we improve for the next class of Penn Staters?

Looking forward to your comments and I hope in the future to hearing about your tremendous successes.

Sincerely,

Kevin Snider
