Katie Chin's personal webpage

Hi! I'm Katie Chin and I'm from Newtown, PA.

Currently I'm a senior at Penn State University Park majoring in bioengineering, specializing in materials science. While not beating my head on my desk as a result of various engineering courses, I'm involved in research (hopefully eventually thesis-related) in Professor Ralph Colby's lab in the Materials Science and Engineering Department. During the summer of 2006, I worked in Prof. Bob Prud'homme's lab at Princeton on loading up nanoparticles with pretty fluorescent dyes. This summer, I interned at the Center for Research and Technology for Rhodia (Bristol, PA) working on a project related to my thesis topic. Some experimental techniques I used were DLS, SLS, differential refractometry, QCM, pendant drop, cryo-TEM, and SANS.

Some of my other extracurricular activities include, BMES, SWE, WEP, and Harry Potter Club. Just because I'm in Harry Potter Club does NOT mean that I am completely nuts, rather, I have my quirks. In my spare time, I enjoy running, working out, playing volleyball, cooking, and eating.
