About

The club’s mission is to create a stimulating, growth-inducing, learning environment. Members will learn through a variety of formats such as the sharing of individual knowledge, professional development, technical workshops, and interactive presentations. The organization intends to recruit speakers on specific contemporary topics of interest that would explore the vast applications of the SRA degree. A round-table for discussion of current events and exchange of individual knowledge and experience provides the opportunity for students to comfortably share ideas and concerns. The club becomes a hub for networking. Students will connect with other peers within the club and through joint-events with other IST organizations.

The initial small number of students in the major works to students’ advantage by making it easier to get to know professors. However, it is realized that faculty within the College of IST are not the only people who can offer insight on the security field. The SRA curriculum pulls from many different colleges at Penn State. It is important to also hear the perspectives of faculty outside the College of IST (i.e. International Relations, Psychology, Economics). Ideally, students will form associations with each other and with professionals now that will remain after graduation to expand the club’s network.
