ROTHFELS, Nigel
Nigel Rothfels is the author of a study of the origins of naturalistic displays in zoological gardens, Savages and Beasts: The Birth of the Modern Zoo (2002), and the editor of a cross-disciplinary collection of essays in Animal Studies, Representing Animals (2002). He has been the recipient of post-doctoral fellowships from the Shelby Cullom Davis Center for Historical Studies at Princeton University, the Humanities Research Centre at the Australian National University in Canberra, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. He is currently writing a history of ideas about elephants since the eighteenth century.
