BADEROON, Gabeba
Gabeba Baderoon received a PhD in English from the University of Cape Town, and has held fellowships at the African Gender Institute, the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and the Nordic Africa Institute. She has published widely on representations of Islam, slavery and the construction of ‘race’ and sex in South Africa. Baderoon was the inaugural Humanities Writer in Residence at the University of Witwatersrand in 2008, and is an Assistant Professor of Women's Studies and African and African American Studies at Pennsylvania State University.
