Renaming the Blog Tab

Introduction or Background Information:

            Renaming the blog tab can be very useful for giving your blog a more personal and unique feel. This task is relatively simple and straight forward and includes the use of the design tab and templates tab on your portfolio. The task should only take five to ten minutes at the most and can be done anywhere that there is an available computer with an internet connection. Certain concepts you may encounter while performing this task include the Blog URL amongst others. The blog URL is the descriptive website where your blog can be found. This task will allow you to change the name of your blog to another title like "Forum" or "Current Events." After this task is done, your blog will look brand new and with have a nice personalized touch!

Materials:

 

  • Computer
  • A working internet connection
  • Your dashboard web-page (in order to change the blog name)
  • Your online portfolio
  • A small amount of time and patience!

 

 

Steps:

 

  1. First, open up your dashboard website in order to get into your portfolio

 

  1. Next, select the tab labeled "Design".

  1. Under the "Design" tab select "templates" from the pull down menu

  1. Next, scroll down to "Template Modules" and select "Navigation"

  1. After pulling up "Navigation" there will be a large amount of text. Don't panic! Find the 3rd line of the text where it contains the Blog URL information that names the tab (labeled line 3 on the left-hand side).

  1. After locating the end of the 3rd line, change the name "Blog" in the URL to any other name you want (for example: "Forum," "Current Events," or "News")

 

Caution: Be aware that the "Blog" title you are changing is in black, and is the one that is alone in the URL. It should look something like this:  >My Blog</a></li>)

 

Step 6 picture, JMW.jpg7.   Finally, click "save" to save your changes and then publish!
