How to Join Your Twitter Account to Your Blog

Introduction

Twitter is a social networking site that allows it's users to stay connected through brief "tweets" up to 140 characters in length based on the question "What are you doing?" This instruction set will show the user how to add a twitter sidebar widget. Adding a twitter sidebar will allow the user to show their "tweets" on their blog page. To be able to use this instruction set, you must already have a twitter account. This task should only take about 10 minutes to complete and takes only a very basic knowledge of blogs to complete. Below is a video and a written instruction set with screenshots to show how to complete this task.


Materials

  • A computer with internet access
  • A twitter account
  • Roughly takes 10 minutes





Creating the Pages Widgets

1.       1. Locate the code for Twitter by logging into your account on the twitter website.

2     2. Click on "Settings" in the top right corner, then click on "Profile".

3.     3. Click on the link to the side of Web that says "(You can also add twitter to   your  site here)" and click Widgets for "My Website" in the left sidebar and then "Profile Widget".

        4.  Once you are on the Profile Widget page, you can play around with your              appearance preferences if you choose then click "Finish & Grab Code"

         5. Copy entire twitter code and return to blog dashboard

4.         6. On your blog dashboard, open Design, and select Widgets.

5.       7. Select "Create Widget Template"

6.         8. If you want to personalize the widget, choose any name for the title in place     of the default: "Pages," such as "Twitter"

7.       9. Paste the code in the from above in the provided area under the widget name.

9.         10. Click on Save

After completing these steps you have now created the Twitter Widget.  It is now ready to be added to your blog site.

 

Adding the Pages Widget

1.       1. On your blog dashboard, open Design, and select Widgets.

2.       2. Click on the "Main Sidebar" widget set.

3.       3. Locate the "Pages" or "Twitter" widget in the "Available Widgets"

4.       4. Drag the "Pages" or "Twitter" widget to the "Installed Widgets"
