How to Add a Banner Heading to Every Page

Purpose:
The purpose of this instruction set is to teach you how to add a banner heading to each of your pages.  You can follow the step by step instructions below, as well as look at the pictures for added assistance.  If you are still stuck, please view the instructional video below.

Step 1: After opening your browser, go to the blog website and log into your dashboard.

Step 2: Locate the design tab at the top of the page and click on it.  Under the design tab click on Templates.

Step 3: Under the Template Modules Header, locate and click on the Header template link.

Step 4: You should now see the edit template window for the header.  Locate the following lines of text (At the bottom of the page):
<mt:If name="main_index">
    <div id="homepage-image">&nbsp;</div>
</mt:If>
and delete the two lines:
<mt:If name="main_index">
</mt:If>

Step 6: Make sure that it now only reads: <div id="homepage-image">&nbsp;</div>
where those three lines of text used to be.

Step 7: Now Publish your page.  You are done!

This was an easy instruction set to follow. I did not have any trouble getting a banner on every page. The only thing I would suggest is putting the screen cast at the top of the instruction set and the pictures for each step below each written step. Also in step 4 I would specify the code is found at the very bottom of the page to save the user time from looking for it.

I tested this instruction set, and it works, though it looks like there is no "Step 5" in the actual instructions. The screenshots of the code really helped, but I would suggest placing each screenshot after its respective step in the written instructions.

These instructions work. I agree though that the screenshots should go after each step and that the screencast would be better at the top of the page. I don't know if its required but you might want to make a style sheet for your page i.e add some color, headings bold, or whatever.

I felt the instruction set 'How to add a banner heading to every page' was a little confusing in what it was supposed to achieve. Also, I felt that it would be more helpful to add line numbers in the instruction that had to do with deleting the code. I felt this would help the user to find the code to be deleted a little easier. Also after completing the task and checking my pages, I didn't see any noticeable difference in anything.
