Degree Audit

    1. Log into elion @ PSU and click on Degree Audit.
    2. Select alternative and click on continue.
    3. Select Business for College, the major (in Smeal), and the year you started at Altoona for Program Year.
    4. Hit Submit degree audit request and then View audit request status.

    Note: The requirements which appear in the degree audit are for Smeal College; they are not Entrance-to-major requirements. For the Entrance-to-major requirements, see below.

GPA

  • Economics is the only major in Smeal College which requires only the university minimum 2.0 GPA. All other majors require a 3.0 GPA, with the exception of Finance which is higher and keeps rising.
  • Your overall GPA is compared to these cutoffs after your sophomore fall semester, and then again after your sophomore spring semester.

  • Global Awareness and Understanding You have to take 6 credts from GAU. Use also advanced search @ Altoona.
  • Foreign Language Policy You have to complete level 3 to graduate.
    5 options for those who forgot what you learned in high school:
    • Audit a course to refresh your memory (Pass/Fail and you need to pay the tuition).
    • Take the risk! (take the course what you are supposed to)
    • Learn a new language and start from level 1.
    • Intensive Summer Language course (this finishes all foreign language requirements in one summer!).
    • Take 2 courses of 6 credits. See for e.g Course Descript.

    • No First Year Seminar offered at Altoona.
    • Prerequisites for MGMT 301 for Spring 2010 can be taken concurrently.
    • There will be more sections of ECON 2 and MKTG 301 offered in fall semesters and more sections of MGMT 301 and ECON 4 in spring semesters. If students follow the RAP, ECON 2 and MKTG 301 will be spring courses and EON 4 and MGMT 301 will be fall courses.
    • It is recommended that students complete MATH 21 before taking ECON 2 and 4.
    • Foreign languages and English 202D to be taken in Altoona, if possible.
    • If students take MATH 21 in the first semester, MATH 22 and STAT 200 in the 2nd semester, MATH 110 should be taken in the 3rd semester. If that is completed, the students will be prepared for Finance 301 in the 4th semester.
