straight to my photos without the "National Geographic" descriptions!
When Suhaib told me of his plan to go to White Water Rafting, I was very
reluctant. I was probably looking for an excuse to get out of it. But thanks to
Suhaib's incessant pushing, I tagged along, not forgetting that I can't swim!!
When I looked at the river for the first time, it didn't at all seem so
scary. I said to myself, 'It's nowhere near the wide-stretched Padma, Meghna or Jamuna from
Bangladesh'. Fortunately, no one was there to remind me that without knowing how to swim, Padma and
White Salmon are more or less the same thing!
However, the instructors gave us enough gears (helmet -- plastic!,
lifejackets, rubber tights, and a paddle for each. Then we started.... And oh my
sweet Lord, it was amazingly great! I would go for it again! We bounced and
paddled, paddled and got splashed. There were other rafts along the river which
had totally toppled over. But thanks to our 'experienced' crew we did good! Look
at the pictures to get a feel for the action yourself! I am the one sitting
second on the left side of the raft, and the one who was stupid enough to wear a
watch on the ride -- it was water-proof, but not rock-proof! Thank God I saved
my Romanson! Dan's behind me, Suhaib and Sagar second and third on the right.
