Vita

I joined the Department of Sociology at Penn State in 2006 after completing my Ph.D. at the University of Washington.

My research interests are at the juncture of social stratification, social demography, and comparative sociology.  My research centers on the ways that gender, labor markets, and social policies influence inequalities in the workplace and in the home.  Because of my interest in the influence of labor market and policy contexts on individuals and families, my work is comparative and currently focuses on advanced industrialized countries. You can find out more about my current and past research on my "Papers" page.

At Penn State I currently offer two upper-level courses closely related to my research - Gender and Work and Family Policy. You can find out more about my current courses by visiting my "Courses" page.
