Professional:
As you may question why I have had an account at the Mathematics Department (not my department of study) of Penn State University, it was because I was a part time systems administrator for them from Aug 1998 thru 2002. After graduation I worked full time in the Systems Group at ZedX, Inc..
Now I work as a Systems Analyst in the Enabling Technologies Group, of the Advanced Information Technology (AIT) side of Academic Services and Emerging Technologies (ASET), a unit of Penn State's main computer department, Information Technology Services (ITS). Confused? Well the Enabling Technology Group used to be called UNIX Systems and Technical Solutions Group, ASET used to be called the Center for Academic Computing (CAC) and ITS used to be called Computer and Information Systems (C&IS). Still confused? Well I do have a mini org chart. Ok, I have a computer job with the University; just leave it at that.
I am a recent graduate of the Computer Engineering major (Bachelor of Science); part of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department, and the College of Engineering.
I was the Coordinator of the Student Activity Server Committee. We made www.clubs.psu.edu happen.
A lot of the responsibility of managing this (technical administration) has followed me (or was that preceded me) to ASET. Just what exactly this means? Well keep watching the Server homepage for announced changes (like how that page is now ran by Student Affairs - ITS (me) does clubs.psu.edu/info). It won't be long now before we make things work a little smoother...well that is always my hope. Maybe this time stuff will really happen cuz I will be able to do stuff behind the scenes. Wish me luck.

I have constructed a mail filter to block the pesky Sircam worm for users of MathNet. I call it by the cutesy name, "desircamify". Sooner or later I'll get around to throwing this out and replacing it with a general purpose malware filter. Hmm...maybe a SPAM filter too. Maybe even for the whole University?...we can only hope...
