About Me:
I am an academic librarian with Penn State University Libraries. Much of my time is spent:
- providing library reference and instruction service to the Schuylkill campus
- developing the campus library collection and assisting with the development of the Slavic collection at University Park
- liaising between University Libraries and Penn State Schuylkill faculty
I am currently serving on a library advisory committee to the American Research Center in Sofia, and I also serve on a few committees within the American Library Association and the Association of College and Research Libraries. I review historical resources for CHOICE, which is a magazine utilized by librarians to make collection decisions. Though I have written historical abstracts and encyclopedia entries in the past, I am hoping to focus more on exploring my own research interests in the near future.
I recently completed an intensive Polish course at The University of Pittsburgh's Summer Language Institute, and I hope to find time to continue studying Polish next summer. During the summer of 2005, I studied Bulgarian at the SLI and New Bulgarian University. Throwing pennies into a well at the Rotunda of St. George guaranteed my return trip to Sofia (along with the generous help of the American Research Center in Sofia and the American Council of Learned Societies). I visited many of the places that I read about and continued my studies at Sofia University, St. Kliment Ohridski's Department for Language Teaching and International Students.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
