Automatic Acknowledgement Indexing
In addition to automated citation analysis for research publications, we now have automated acknowledgement analysis. Within research publications it is customary for scientists to acknowledge individuals or institutions who have impacted scholarly work. These acknowledgements represent a variety of formal and informal contributions, including intellectual advice from peers and support received from funding agencies, among other things. Supplementing traditional authorship and citation information with acknowledgements yields a more complete picture of the influences surrounding the academic process, and opens up new analyses such as measurements of the effectiveness of funding agencies and supplemental measures of individuals' intellectual output. Automatic acknowledgement indexing is a feature to be deployed in CiteSeer with the next major release.
