Sample Gradebook

At Penn State, we utilize ANGEL, an online course management system. Within ANGEL, we are able to design quizzes and assignments for students to complete before coming to class. This enables us to center our teaching on practices where students are actually using the language. With the online ANGEL work and the powerpoint, students are exposed to the target grammar and vocab before being asked to produce it.

While students complete assignments on ANGEL, we are able to track their grades on the gradebook within angel. Grades are automatically recorded by ANGEL when students complete tasks. This gradebook is benefitial to us because as instructors, we are able to keep track of students' progress throughout the course of the semester. Also, if a student has a question about his or her grade, it is very simple to look it up.

When teaching a class which does not have any ANGEL course work, I prefer to record the grades manually and update an excel spreadsheet with formulas on a weekly basis.
