About

heleneny.jpgHello! My name is Helene Tack. I am currently a senior studying elementary education at Penn State University. I grew up in a suburb of Pittsburgh and Hershey, PA. After graduating from Hershey High School, I attended Penn State Altoona for two years before moving to University Park.

At Altoona I was captain of the cheerleading squad and also co-founder of a college-age bible study in conjunction with First/Broad Street Presbyterian Church, Altoona.

Thumbnail image for DR1.jpgWhen I can, I love to travel. In 2007 I visited the Dominican Republic on a mission trip with Orphanage Outreach. On this trip we stayed at an orphanage and taught and taught English lessons at the local schools.  It was an amazing, life changing experience. The picture to the left is of me with some of the first and second grade students I taught during the  week. Here are a few other images. This one  is of me walking into the school.View image  This one is of the seventh grade classroom in which we taught:

TIn 2008 I was a member of the Penn State Dance Marathon OPP committee. In my spare time I enjoy giving perspective student tours of the Penn State campus with Penn State Lion Scouts.

I also love reading. My favorite books are East of Eden, The Tale of Desperaux, Love That Dog, and Purple Green and Yellow. I don't have a favorite subject to teach, how can you choose one?
