Helena M. Mentis
I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the College of Information Sciences and Technology at the Pennsylvania State University.  My research is on emotion and information sharing and the implications on the design of collaborative information systems in critical environments. Since 2002 I have worked for Lockheed Martin as a systems engineer designing user interfaces and conducting usability evaluations of Homeland Security and Navy command and control applications. My Master's research at Cornell University was on the occurrence of frustration in human-computer interaction. Prior to that I worked at Philips Research primarily researching cognitive modeling and its application to user testing as well as researching, designing, and testing multimodal entertainment systems for ambient environments. My undergraduate work was at Virginia Tech in Psychology where I spent most of my time in the HCI Lab and Neurocognitive Lab.
