Information for First-Generation Students, Under-represented Students and Students of Color
Research indicates that although this is the largest group of students enrolled in community colleges, colleges and universities, this group of students are the most reluctant to ask for help or seek out the resources that exist in these higher education institutions. However, there are plenty of examples of students and alumni who have not only survived, but thrived in higher education. The faculty and staff of Penn State Altoona and Penn State encourages you to ask for and to seek those opportunities. What is listed below are some programs and opportunities that exist for first-generation, under-represented and students of color in Penn State and beyond.
Mentoring and Internship Opportunities
Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education was held at the Blair County Convention Center from Friday, October 27, 2006 through Sunday, October 28, 2006.
Academic Assistance Programs (the majority of these services are based at the University Park campus of Penn State)
Institutional Equity and Diversity at Penn State Altoona (clubs, organizations, calendar of events and some funding sources for students)
