Voting, On Roids

"Steroids are the elephant in the room subject." This was said in the interview several times. This struck me as the best way to weave sports, media, and society together.  Let's take a player like Mark McGuire, undoubtedly one of the most hated and widely know steroid user. But he was never convicted of using them, and never admitted to it.  Why is he the face of steroids, because of the media.

In this segment, the writes try to come together and vote on how to portray performance enhancing drugs to the press.  They realize they are ruining the reputation of baseball's greats, one by one.  And it's not only the reputation of the player, it's the reputation he has to his fans.  His fans don't want to see his name being tarnished in the newspaper, they want to see how well he is doing.

In short, I fully agree with a vote for writers to lay off players and stop destroying their reputation publicly. I think its important that we support our pro athletes, considering they are the best at what they do, and will make their own decisions, whether they work out for them or not.
