LC Report

1.

Not too much going on at the state level, it is now legal to sell motorcycles on Sundays; on the federal level there is legislation introduced by US Representative Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) to limit the EPA from authorizing the use of gasoline containing greater than 10% ethanol (HR 748); by voice vote the House passed HR 2887, extending surface transportation programs through March 31, 2012, this extension maintains the flow of motorcycle safety and awareness grants, as well as highway related taxes such as the gas tax; HR 2715 has passed the House and Senate and now goes to President Obama to be signed into law, this law will exempt kids’ off-highway vehicles from the lead law that bans their sale; Dan P-also concealed carry reciprocity, meaning that if you are licensed to carry concealed you can carry across state lines, such legislation has not passed in the past

Membership Report

Currently at 169 members, updated membership forms available

Other Report

1.

OSAL-State College has eliminated their summer drivers’ education program, still 1 drivers’ ed teacher remaining; Bald Eagle has eliminated their drivers’ ed program; can still teach OSAL in schools through health class; Radar-in Mifflin County where drivers’ ed programs have also been eliminated, the teachers started a private business and sub contract to teach drivers’ ed in the schools;

2.

District Rep-

3.

Products-hasn’t received all info from Grange Fair sales yet, will report next  month; wants to print grey chapter shirts, vote for black or orange print on the shirt, black chosen

4.

Webmaster-voting will take place during chapter elections for 2 District Reps in District 5, John H not sure if he will run due to personal time constraints, his dog has cancer and doesn’t have much time to live, said he will run if nobody else does, but that he thinks only one person from CLR should run, asked Mule if he would run, Mule-yes; Jim Burkey has done an excellent job for the past 2 years and plans to run again; Radar-nominated Mule to run for DR, Mule accepted; Steen-suggested John step back if he can’t give it 110%, cited his own experience as OSAL rep for state, Radar-take a year off to get a break; Mule-who else is running? John-nobody, Dave Evans will be up for re-election next year; Vicky-impressed with the work and knowledge it takes for those in DR position; Hal-John has done an excellent job and speaks his mind at board meetings

Old Business

1.

Bike Raffle- profit was $1160 this year, which is low relative to previous years, primarily because member sales of tickets was low, that’s something we can work on next year if we decide to raffle a bike; members sold 364, 1606 were sold at events for a total of 1970 tickets sold, $9850; total cost for the bike and related expenses was $8690

2.

Officer nominations-consider running for office and/or nominating someone you think would do a good job as an officer; final nominations are in October and elections in November

3.

Bellefonte Cruise-Pat McCool passed on more information, CLR would not be responsible for judging or finding judges for the bike show segment of the Cruise, the Cruise committee has hired a professional judging crew for both the cars and the bikes, so all we would need to do is run the bike games, registration will also be handled by the Cruise committee, CLR will still get the benefits of a $2000 sponsor; Cruise is Father’s Day weekend and we’ll need volunteers to be there, general thoughts were that being involved would be beneficial for the chapter, we can put membership forms and information in the goody bags

4.

State Flag-Hal-showed the latest sample of the state flag, which will cost $60 each to purchase and they need to sell 51; motion by John H for the chapter to purchase a flag seconded by Dan P, motion passed; George and Steen would each like to purchase one

5.

Van for Vets-Steve- CLR was on the list of sponsors when they did the dedication, even though they sent our check back to us

6.

New Business ideas

1.

Poker for BikePAC-we want to do a poker tourney benefiting BikePAC again before L&L so we can donate proceeds at the seminar; Dan P will chair the committee, discuss plans with TJ who was instrumental in the success of the last tourney; Blair (pres. Jacks Mtn chapter)-had a similar event and gave a plaque to the winner who could then later show the plaque to claim a prize

2.

Christmas Party-do we want to do a party this year, to be held in January as usual? Hal-yes; committee formed-Steve L, Cathy B, Bill A, will be added to at Oct mtg

3.

L&L-consider attending L&L in January; Bill A-will chapter reimburse chapter members for tickets? Table until Oct mtg

4.

MOM- Ross Baney!  Congratulations Ross-thank you for your efforts at the Hazen, bringing your camper, cooking and being a gracious host and representing CLR in style, for your invaluable help at the Bike Show, helping with needed supplies and clean up the next day, and for all the time you spent at the Grange Fair helping to set up and sell tickets!  You deserve this and we appreciate you!
