A new account has been opened specifically for BikePAC funds.  Our BikePAC money, currently $685.29, has been moved to that account.  Our working balance after accounting for purchase of the bike and Grange Fair expenses is $4,474.20.

House voted 191/0 in favor of HB563, civil liability issue for hosts of the state motorcycle safety course, now goes to Senate; Dan Frankel is looking for co-sponsors to reinstate a mandatory helmet law; Guest speaker, Jeff Steiner running for County Commissioner, has a Libertarian streak and supports our position on the helmet law, says our support for the state motorcycle safety course is an excellent way to promote ABATE and makes us look responsible, currently on the Board of Education in Bellefonte and the board of the YMCA, looking forward to the opportunity to serve the community, works well with others; Mike R-What is happening with cell phone legislation? Dead issue at this time; Danny S- a federal motion to prohibit the NTSB from lobbying states for helmet laws has support; Steen- we can’t appear complacent on the helmet issue

Membership Report

Current membership is 186.  Membership dues will go up $5 beginning in June.  From June 1 thru August 31 there will be a membership drive contest.  Anyone who recruits 5 new members will get a free year membership.

Old Business

 

1.

Bike Show- Kim- getting sponsors lined up, if any members have a business they’d like to advertise on the t-shirt see a committee member; need volunteers for bike show judging, bike games, security, product and raffle ticket sales, food prep, etc., passed out sign-up sheet; Curt will be doing the pig roast, sides from Wasson farm again; we raised enough money last year that we didn’t need to use any chapter funds for bike show costs and are on target to do that again this year, however the committee would like to request that $500 be available to use for expenses should we need it before we get all the sponsor and ticket money in, all money would be returned to the chapter treasury, Steen P-motion to set aside $500 for the bike show committee, second- George F, motion passed

Bike Raffle- Jody- have tickets available to sell; keep an eye out for events where we can sell tickets, can take posters or possibly the bike

3.

Wild Dream Team- Mule- according to Bill Shuey the week before, everything was going as planned to hold the softball tourney but then cancelled the Thursday before because there weren’t enough teams

4.

BikePAC Poker Tournament- Mule- taking place after today’s meeting

5.

MRF-Mule- we renewed our chapter membership, have certificate

New Business ideas

 

1.

Grange Fair- Mule- plan to do our booth again to sell tickets, will need volunteers to cover shifts at the booth, Kim will make schedule and sign-up sheet

2.

Hazen- Mule- identified which members are going to Hazen, no group ride organized to travel up

3.

Home Run for the Toy Run- Danny- thanks from the Law Dogs for organizing this run to raise money for the Toy Run; Meet at Snappy’s in Old Fort at 11:30, stops will be Mule’s, Kenny’s, Danny’s, Brian’s and then the Millheim Hotel; Cost is $15 per person with $10 going toward the purchase of a 32” flat screen tv to raffle at the Toy Run, $5 going toward the winner’s hand, all extra money after the purchase of the tv will go to the Salvation Army; ride will be rain or shine

4.

MOM- Mule- May’s MOM is Danny Saville!  Thank you, Danny, for all of your work organizing the Home Run for the Toy Run, representing CLR on the Toy Run Committee and your efforts on the Bike Show committee!  Your talents and ideas are appreciated!

Bellefonte Cruise- Mule- will need volunteers to help sell raffle tickets and products on Friday evening and Saturday; Mike Roan will take the raffle bike to the Cruise and help work the booth
