No new legislation, bill about eliminating liability for properties that host the motorcycle safety program is still in the house; there’s a federal movement to exempt ATVs for the legislation about lead used in the wheel bearings; representatives in Wisconsin are trying to form a bill to eliminate motorcycle only checkpoints (MOCs), Hal-spoke with a rep from N Carolina who said they are starting MOCs, Dave-what are they looking for? Hal-anything, pipes, bike does not have to be running for them to check, Radar-to see if helmets are DOT approved; will start posting LC updates on our Facebook page

OSAL-Has official letter in hand from Harry Sherman regarding OSAL in all PA school districts; Hal presented yesterday and Thursday to Bellefonte HS; Bill-daughter works at Bald Eagle, due to budget constraints they are considering eliminating drivers ed

2.

District Rep-Cambria Summit Chapter has a new president, Maureen Smith; if you run into Blair Wertz, president of the Jack’s Mountain Chapter, be sure to give him kudos for the work he does, he has stepped up in the face of various difficult situations

3.

Products- products are now available with the new logo that includes our website, black and orange, all sizes; a tank top was passed around for feedback about whether or not to have them available for summer

4.

Webmaster- Mule- chapter facebook page is up; we are averaging 30 hits per day by different users; Jane- can there be a link on the site to our fb page, Mule-yes; an events schedule is on the site, there will be one with CLR events and one comprehensive list

                                   

Old Business

 

1.

Van for Vets- Steve- we got our check for $500 back because they had raised enough money to pay for the van, however they will need help down the road for upkeep and to compensate volunteer drivers, can vote on subsequent donations when needed

2.

Bike Show- Kim- cmt has not met yet

3.

Bike Raffle- Jody- cost of 3000 tickets and a few posters will be $234; Motion to spend $234 to purchase raffle tickets by Mike, seconded by George, motion passed; bike should be in next month

4.

CPR- Bill- sign up sheet passed around to sign up for CPR certification after the April mtg; cost is $5 and program will last about 2 hrs

5.

Wild Dream Team- Mule- chapter will be doing a softball tournament in conjunction with Legion Riders of State College to raise funds for the WDT to be held May 7 & 8, ALR will be in charge of organizing the teams and CLR will be in charge of manning the concession stand; Steve- Jody & Jeannie made a $1 donation sheet, the Ladies Auxiliary is doing a bake sale & breakfast at Post 245 on 3/20, SAL bus trip 4/9; Jane- WDT raises all their own money for their trip and need it now because they donated $26,000 to Haiti

New Business ideas

 

1.

BikePAC Poker Tournament- Mule- one day tourney, spoke with Post 779 about holding it here, no charge for the room, will sell food and beverages; TJ has poker chips; if 45 people enter the tourney we could profit $600-$700; tentative entry fee $25; can’t give away cash prizes, ideas are a 30 in. flat screen tv, visa gift cards; Steen-suggested offering pre-registration; Radar- requested a layout of initial expenses; date and time to be announced; committee formed: Mule, Curt, Steen, Dan P, TJ, Jody

State Flag- Hal- was asked by the Board to design a flag, submitted 2 designs which will be voted upon at today’s Grand Board Mtg

3.

MOM- March’s MOM is TIM BRADFORD!  Tim consistently attends meetings and events and always offers a sincere helping hand.  Thank you, Tim!!!
