LC Report

1.

Check the October issue of BTL for the Voters’ Guide to see where candidates stand on motorcyclists’ issues; There was no voting on the following bills prior to recess: HB509 (would allow a motorcyclist to proceed with caution through a red light that was not tripped by the motorcycle), HB1189 (would allow exemption from liability for locations/businesses that host the State Motorcycle Safety Program on their property) and HB2442 (allowing a trike conversion kit), will start over again next year; all amendments had been removed from these bills so Charles Umbenhauer is looking into the reason(s) that these bills were held up; MoonDog-knows John Ike who is running for Senate, says he supports helmet choice and pro-motorcyclist legislation

Membership Report

1.

Christy-elections are in November, please check to make sure your membership is current so you can vote.

Other Report

1.

OSAL- Lehigh Valley and Endless Mountain chapters both gave OSAL presentations; Hal & Joel Brickell presented at State High; Hal presented at twice Bellefonte High; Peggy Snyder and Barb Smith also presented; ABATE is working with Harry Sherman (Dept of Education) to make OSAL part of the state drivers’ education curriculum; Hal has declined to run for State OSAL Director for 2011

2.

District Rep-Mule-issue of colors at Hazen probably won’t go anywhere; nominations and elections for DRs will be next year, DRs have 2-year terms

3.

Products-orange products in stock, t-shirts, hoodies and zip hoodies; plenty of koozies in stock; it’s been great to see members wearing their CLR products, especially at various bike events; raffled off a Harley Davidson T for $1 per chance, proceeds to benefit the food bank, raised $54

4.

Webmaster-all meeting minutes are on the site; Christmas Party info is up and will be updated as details become available; there is a link on the site to Chuck Carroll’s website, in regard to pictures and videos, do we want to display any/all motorcycle related events or just Chapter events?  Discussion ensued about how to best and most accurately convey CLR on the site, while also supporting other local events, Chuck-CLR helps various organizations in the community and should be reflected on the website, decision was made to trust the webmaster’s judgment when posting pictures and that he will confer with Mule if there are questions

Old Business

1.

Food Bank-Christy- the food bank is supporting 72 families this year, the shopping and delivery date(s) will be announced at the November meeting; once the food is delivered to the food bank, the group usually goes to the Back Street in Frenchville for lunch (member owned and a Gold Star Supporter)

2.

Christmas Party-Kim-will be held at the Centre Hall Legion on Saturday January 15th, meeting at 4:00pm, party immediately following; DJ will be member Dave Greenway; committee will meet next week and report details about menu and cost at November mtg

3.

Fall Rides Report-Readshaw-Hal- great ride, nice turn out, stopped at Duke’s on the way back, about 400 riders, Jody-awesome ride, it was a sight to behold so many bikes, RT81 closed off by police, Mule-Chapter received Major’s Commission certificate from Harry Readshaw for our donation to the fund, Chuck-scan certificate so it can be put on our website; Touring Friends-Hal-nice turn out for the ride, came through Mt Union, down RT103, there was an accident on the ride, rider went to hospital and was released the next day; State College Homecoming Parade-Hal-CLR made the front page of the CDT, got rained on, went to Home Delivery for dinner; Justin Lansberry-Jody-ride left from the Milheim Hotel, nice ride, about 40 bikes, Hal-received call from Justin’s mom, gave her 2 road signs, Curt-guy saw the group go by on the bikes, so he got on his and met them at the next stop (Log Cabin Inn) to ask what was going on, also noticed CLR shirts and asked about CLR; Legacy Scholarship Ride-Curt-put on by the Legion Riders, total of 17 riders, most were CLRs, one of the stops was the Tyrone Legion which was a neat place, Steve-timing for the ride was poor so they didn’t have much time to get advertising out there, but on a positive note they were able to work out some kinks in the ride for next year; Heidi Lingle-Steve-nice ride, this was the 4th annual, supports youth in the community, always the 2nd Sunday in October

4.

Nominations for 2011 Officers-Mule-consider running for office or nominating someone whom you think would make a good officer; current nominations include; President-Mule, Secretary-Kim, Legislative Coordinator-Steen, Products-Jody & Jeannie, OSAL-Hal, Sergeant at Arms-Mike Roan and Dan Piper, Membership-Bill Allison, Webmaster-MoonDog; additional nominations are as follows: Kim-Steve for Public Relations, accepted; at the last mtg, Kenny was nominated for Head Road Captain and said he would consider it, declined; Brian had been nominated for Vice President but was not in attendance to accept, accepted; at this time, we have no one nominated for Treasurer, Cathy Baney expressed interest but is not present at this mtg, Mule will contact her

New Business ideas

1.

Between the Lines and “Stew’s List”-Mule-Kim will be taking over the BTL monthly article and email list for local events, contact her with information or ideas for BTL or events list; Kim-I am working on setting up the email list so everyone who wants it will get the events list and other information, please be patient as I work out the bugs, please make sure your email address is current, Chuck and MoonDog to Kim-consider setting up a separate email account to handle CLR/ABATE correspondence; as for BTL, Stew did a fantastic job and I have big shoes to fill

2.

L&L-Mule-encouraged everyone to go, it opens your eyes to the bigger picture of ABATE; Kim-all members should go at least once just to see what the organization does at the State and legislative levels, it is very interesting; the following members expressed intentions to go: Curt, Steen, Mike R, Steve, Hal, Natalie, Bill A, Brian, Rachael, Jody, Jeannie, Kim for a total of 12; Last year the Chapter voted to reimburse the cost of the tickets to members who went to L&L and attended the programs, Steen-good idea to reimburse ticket cost, would be $900 for 12 tickets, there were some members who declined reimbursement

10.

Meeting Time-Curt suggested moving meeting times to the third Saturday of the month, creates opportunity to ride after meeting; our special events such as Bike Show, Octoberfest and Christmas Party are held on Saturdays already

11.

State College Veterans Clinic-Speed-raising money for a van that will be used to transport Veterans to various appointments, Legion Riders are looking into how the money will be raised and accounted for, suggested that CLR make a donation, will get info from Legion Riders and info will be passed on at next CLR meeting
