No new legislation, it’s budget time; Wosniak’s fundraiser is 6:24, ride to attend will meet at the Valley Vista Sheetz, ksu 4:00pm, RSVP to Steen so he can contact Charles Umbenhauer for tickets; Ran into Scott Conklin at Lowe’s-Scott said he’s attend one of our meetings, to let him know when we can work him into our agenda; Myrtle Beach-the city helmet ordinance was deemed unenforceable, John Knarr-ABATE was a force in helping this happen, Danny Saville-other ordinances, such as open container and trailers, still apply

State is promoting contests for acquiring NEW Gold and Platinum Star supporters from 5/1 through 8/31, members who sign up new supporters will go into drawings, 1st drawing $250, 2nd $150, 3rd, $100; See Linda if you have ideas about new Gold and Platinum supporters; Couples membership = 2 people living at the same address; current membership is a193

 

 

Other Report

 

1.

OSAL-stickers are in, see Hal if you want one; t-shirts in progress, front will be the yard sign and the back will be the OSAL sticker design; Blue Mtn and Ridge Runners chapters combined to present; Keystone did a presentation and also worked state Welcome Centers; Iron Horse Rail Riders presented to 4 schools; Highlanders doing great work, presented to 4 schools, have a group of about 15 presenters; Green Cty did 2 presentations; Clarion, 1 presentation; Hal & Natalie were on the TV show Biking in Berks and Beyond, so view the archived show go to bctv.org; Hal has also presented OSAL to State College and Penns Valley schools, Lincoln Univ; reports of townships and boroughs taking down our road signs, each has different rules but this should not be happening

2.

District Rep (Radar filled in for John Hall)-state membership is 7142, up by 42 over May 2009; Broad Mtn turned in the charter; Reminder-don’t forget about your death and disability benefit that you get through ABATE; Hazen-Board looking into hiring outside contractor for clean up; Effort continuing to get funding through PennDOT next year, prospect looking good; Changes to Clarence Bell Scholarship-1 for $1000 instead of 2 for $500, open to ABATE members of at least 6 months for all 2 or 4 year degree or trade school programs, turn in application and 500-700 word essay at least 7 days prior to March Grand Board meeting, no faxes or emails accepted; State Money Grab Raffle Tickets-3700 signed out, only 388 turned in as sold!!; Cost of shipping banners from Harrisburg is $40 each time, so they are asking districts to buy banners to have stored more local to chapters

3.

Products- bi-annual audit needs to be done, one was done prior to tonight’s meeting, we now have $499 in inventory at cost, $301 in cash plus a check for $32; new orange shirts available; if you want something we don’t have, see Jody with your suggestions, paying in advance for new products helps with cash flow; should have snap koozies in time for Hazen and Bellefonte Cruise, Radar-will we be selling them at the Cruise? Yes. Steen-was in Georgia, stopped by a cop (ABATE member) to tell him he liked our shirt!; CLR had an excellent presence in Harrisburg at the Rights Rally in CLR apparel

4.

Webmaster-meeting minutes are now available online; added multi-media, pics and video from L&L, Lobby Day, Rights Rally; send MoonDog links for photos and videos or give to him on CD, he’ll work with you to get your stuff added, content must be approved by Mule per the State; Gold & Platinum supporters are updated; Bike Show information, flyer and map added; Hazen and Bellefonte Cruise info added

                                   

Old Business

 

1.

Bike Show (Kim)-Big thanks to the committee for working hard and being a pleasure to work with!; Sat July 24th, noon-9, meeting at 10:30; Danny has flyers, take some if you want to hang them around the area; Bill has tickets-get yours today, free event t-shirt for first 100 registrants; vendors lined up, working on more; secured 35 t-shirt sponsors (goal was 30) for a total of $1750, appox expenses $2300, makes us - $550, which we hope to make up and exceed with ticket sales; $15 ticket get you food, beverages, participation in any and all events; $5 ticket (day of only) get you beverages and access to look around; need volunteers for registration, security, gate, products, cooks (Fri & Sat), bike show judges, bike games, kitchen help, please see a committee member to volunteer

2.

Toy Run (Hal)-Sally & Nick have gotten Shirley Snyder to put on a pig roast at her home (not sure where it is located) for the after party; next committee mtg 6:29; Bill Allison has gotten the first door prizes; Hal has a letter to present to potential donors requesting door prizes; have flyers, please take some to pass out; really need people to solicit door prizes!!

3.

Spikes (Will West)-Poker Run & Bike Night Sunday July 11th; all proceeds, except for the actual game ticket proceeds, will go to Cancer Survivors Assoc.; local businesses as well as custom bike builders from outside the area will be set up at the park that night; poker run leaving Kissel’s @ noon, going to Whipple’s Dam, where Doan’s Bones will provide food, then heading to the ball park, arriving about 4:30; parking is included in the package price; CLR will have a table set up, Jody-can we sell products?  Raffle tickets?  Will will check to see what is permissible to sell

4.

Rolling Thunder (Bill Pazul)-13 bikes, 17 people attended; left at 5:30am, got back to State College about 10:10pm; great day, great ride; Bill will not be Road Captain for the DC ride next year, so volunteers would be appreciated

5.

Rights Rally (MoonDog)-excellent turn out of members; breakfast stop at Stop 35; stopped at Stoney Creek on return home; successful day, total of $10, 143.98 raised for BikePAC

6.

Roadhouse (Mule)-$100 was collected from the chapter for a Gold Star for the Roadhouse, since they are closed, we still have the $100 that was raised; Kenny had spearheaded the drive in the first place and expressed that the $100 could be well used by the Bike Show Cmt; Motion by Steve LaMar that the money go to Bike Show expenses, seconded by Hal, motion passed

Road Captain (Bill Pazul)-Special Olympics, 6/11 meeting at 12:30, ksu 12:45 from E College Ave UniMart near Hickeys; Rattlesnake Hunt, 6/12 meeting at Nittany Mall McDonald’s, ksu 9:00am; Dixie Chicks Run, 6/12 Pine Grove Mills VFW, reg. 11:00am; Hazen, Danny Saville RC, 6/18 meeting at Valley Vista Sheetz, ksu 10:00am, 322 to Clearfield, to 153, will make a stop for groceries and supplies, be ready with a full tank and empty bladder, John Knarr and Bill Allison will be leaving to go up on Thursday; Bill’s Biker Barn and Mustang Sally’s Customer Appreciation Day, 6/24, Snappy’s in Old Fort, ksu 10:00am; Cambria City Fairgrounds Bike Fest, 6/23-27; Thunder in the Valley, 6/26, Valley Vista Sheetz, ksu 8:00am, stop at Zebka’s HD then on to Johnstown

2.

Rides and Rods Car and Bike Show-6/13 here at the Legion, CLR will have a booth to sell raffle tickets, see Mule if you want to volunteer

3.

50/50 (Mule)-starting new effort to raise money for BikePAC since our donation at the Rights Rally so we can make a great contribution at L&L; a suggestion was made to donate 50/50 proceeds to BikePAC; Curt-avg 50/50 totals less then $50; Steen-ABATE is a legislative organization and BikePAC is our lobby, all 50/50 proceeds should go to BikePAC; Radar-where has the 50/50 money gone in the past? To the chapter.

4.

MOM (Mule)-June’s Member of the Month is RADAR!!!  Congratulations and thank you so much for all you do to help our chapter!

5.

Product Basket Raffle-proceeds benefit BikePAC, winner is GEORGE FYE!!  Raised $33

Bike Show Audit-we need 3 volunteers to show up early for the August meeting to do the Bike Show Audit, volunteers-Kenny Wasson, George Fye, Sandy Smithmyer
