What Americans Need to Know About The Healthcare Takeover

www.LC.org

We recently saw an overview of the healthcare bill being debated in Congress (HR 3200). We found the overview so alarming that we doubted its accuracy, so the staff in our D.C. office compared it to the voluminous bill.

What they found astonished us so much that we had to share it with you today. You can read our updated and revised overview of HR 3200 and you will be alarmed, too. (Here are links to the PDF and html versions.)

You can also read the text of HR 3200 - directly from a government website - to see for yourself how dangerous this government healthcare takeover would be.

Of course, it is not enough to be alarmed and do nothing! Congress is going on recess soon, but you can be assured that the liberals behind this bill will not be at rest. They will hold public meetings and try to convince their constituents that government healthcare is the only option.

It is time to visit the Senators and Representatives in their local offices in your state. Take copies of our document on HR 3200 with you so they can understand your concerns.

You can locate your Senators and Representatives offices online.

You can also find more information about this bill online, including voting history and amendments and track its future moves through Congress.

Read more about the consequences of this bill in Matt Barber's article "Is There a Co-Pay with Forced Abortion?" Barber is Director of Cultural Affairs for Liberty Counsel and Associate Dean with Liberty University School of Law.

Let's cut to the chase here.  Obama and his facilitators are political animals who care not one whit for the issues that they claim to.  Rather, their only concern is to create a giant welfare state where the population of poor is increased ASAP, in particular, by granting amnesty to illegal aliens, making this group beholden to Obama in order to survive, and more importantly for Obama, in order for him to survive by BUYING their votes as their citizenship process is accelerated in the same manner that all of the horrendous America killing legislation of Obama has been rushed through congress before the country knows what hit it!  People are starting to wise up, but we can never let down our guard with the Obama administration who will complete the transformation of America into a communist state if we let them.

Our representatives are elected to serve us.  We don't serve them.  Right now we are staring straight in the face of a rogue administration and a rogue Congress who couldn't care less about an America fit to live in for our children and grandchildren.  They are making a mockery of the sacrifices of all those in our military who fought and died to prevent the overt takeover of our country by foreign enemies only to see that takeover achieved covertly by domestic enemies from within.

It's put up or shut up time, REAL God fearing Americans!  We either fight for a country worthy of God's blessing or we are staring at its complete destruction!  -  Gary L. Morella

Reading the Fine Print in the Health Care Bill

July 31, 2009

by Phyllis Schlafly

The House Democrats' health care bill is entitled "America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009." No clue is given as to how long we will have a choice, but it will probably be only until the "public option" chases private insurance out of business.

The bill's subtitle states its purpose as health care for everyone, reducing "the growth in health care spending," "and for other purposes." Note that the goal is not to reduce spending but only the "growth" in spending, and we need to worry about the "other purposes" that will be added by the bureaucrats' regulations.

·                  The bill states that health-care benefits require "shared responsibility among workers, employers, and the government." That means the government will force all taxpayers to pay for health care for millions of people who don't now buy insurance because they don't need it, or because insurance doesn't cover what they do need. (p.5)

·                  The bill states that the government will investigate "self-insured employers not being able to pay obligations." Government agents will audit and then harass small business owners to force them to pay for insurance they cannot afford. (p.22)

·                  The bill provides for optional "nurse home visitation services" without specifying who has power to exercise the option. Among the various purposes listed are "increasing birth intervals between pregnancies" (this reminds us of China's policies to reduce childbirth by married couples), reducing "child abuse, neglect, and injury" (giving more authority to the already too powerful Child Protective Services), and promoting school readiness (will homeschooling be scorned?). (p.768)

·                  The bill covers family planning. Those are well-known code words for taxpayer-funded contraception and abortion, and will impose mandatory coverage of abortion on demand in all health plans. (p.772)

·                  The bill provides for "culturally and linguistically appropriate communication and health services," and "shall give priority to applicants that have developed partnerships with community organizations or with agencies with experience in language access." This opens up plenty of funding for health and translation services for illegal aliens. (pp.405 & 407)

·                  Title II of the bill creates a "Health Insurance Exchange," pretending to be a marketplace for health insurance plans. Of course, so long as the "public option" is subsidized by the taxpayers, it can always undersell private plans. (p.72)

·                  The government will specify the health benefits that must be included in any plan participating in the Health Insurance Exchange. If all private plans must include all government-specified benefits (which will surely include benefits unwanted by many people and will inevitably drive up costs), whatever happened to choice? (p.84)

·                  Anyone who does not enroll in an Exchange-participating plan will be "automatically enrolled under Medicaid." The government will thus use force to achieve its goal of universal coverage. (p.102)

·                  Employers will be subjected to a play-or-pay mandate. Those who do not provide health insurance to their employees must give the government a "contribution" equal to 8 percent of average wages paid. (p.149)

·                  Seniors must submit to "advance care planning consultation" (a.k.a. end-of-life discussions) every five years, or more often if there is "a significant change in the health condition of the individual, including diagnosis of a chronic, progressive, life-limiting disease, a life-threatening or terminal diagnosis or life-threatening injury." Will these consultants advise seniors to hurry up and die because they are costing too much money? (pp.425 & 429)

·                  Government bureaucrats will conduct "Comparative Effectiveness Research" to decide the effectiveness of treatments and drugs. That is the exotic label for rationing and, as House Appropriations Chairman David Obey (D-WI) admitted, drugs and treatments that are "found to be less effective and more expensive will no longer be prescribed." (pp.502 & 520)

·                  Government bureaucrats (not the medical profession) shall determine national priorities for research. (p.505)

·                  Preference in awarding grants or contracts will be given to entities that have trained "the greatest percentage" of public health workers in the government, and that have trained large percentages of "under-represented minority groups." (pp.909-910) Think ACORN!

The Senate bill's official summary also authorizes "home visits" to "improve immunization coverage." Will Americans tolerate a knock on the door from a government agent
demanding that we and our children receive all government-ordered vaccines?

The fine print of the Democrats' health-care bill (which imposes incredible debt on our children) gives enormous power to the Obama bureaucrats to impose uniform, government-defined-benefits insurance, to decide how much we must pay or be hit with fines and penalties, and to determine what treatments and drugs are "effective" and will be permitted.

This isn't America; this is Marxist Socialism.

Bad Employer Bailout? Reform Could Fund Health Care for Illegal Workers

Under health care legislation on Capitol Hill, undocumented workers would technically not be covered. But the reality, immigration analysts say, is that the legislation is missing any mechanism to keep them out of the system. And if they exploit that loophole, taxpayers could be on the hook for billions to cover health care costs that employers don't.

Healthcare plan suffers a Senate delay...

'THEY ARE THE VILLIANS': Pelosi lashes out against insurance companies... - Communists must always have villains to incite the dumbed-down masses to their cause.  Cap&Tax had the proven energy industry.  Regulation had the banks and the car industry.  And now 'death care' masquerading as health care has the medical profession and the insurance companies.  The REAL villain here is the liberal witch pictured above who couldn't care less about the consequences of her insane legislation designed to destroy America from within by destroying the private sector making us all slaves to the state.  What's hypocritical is that Pelosi, Reid and their cronies didn't have a problem with the private sector when making their fortunes, in the case of Reid under very questionable circumstances, see the ENCLOSURE, but they can't stand anyone else making an honest effort to better themselves, and the country in the process.  No, small businessmen are now a pariah to be put out of business as the war on the middle class and upper class rages with redistribution the Communist watchword to make us all poor except for the politburo members like Pelosi, Reid, and their fearless leader, Comrade Obama who will live high on the hog due to bogus stimulus packages designed to do nothing but fund their political orgs to keep them in power in perpetuity!   Don't look for these types to go quietly in the night if and when they are defeated politically.  Don't put anything past the Obama administration that covets power above all else, and who will not give it up easily, looking for any way to con Americans that it's in America’s best interest if they never lose power.  Can you say 'looking for an excuse for martial law?'  Say it can't happen?  They were saying that about the government takeover of the auto industry not so long ago. – Gary L. Harry Reid's Real Estate Investing Plan

by  Mac Johnson

10/17/2006

How you can make millions by having Dirty Harry “do nothing” on your behalf? Order now and receive free bonus gift: “Clerical Errors” for Fun and Profit!

Are you stuck in a dead end job so boring that you spend all day at work surfing the web reading witty political commentary? Are you tired of investments that depend on unreliable “market forces” for their returns? Haven’t you always dreamed of a way to make money that was as automatic as the creeping bureaucracy that afflicts our nation’s cash flow like fiscal atherosclerosis?

Well dream no more, friend, because today I am going to let you in on one of the great secrets of American business (and the mainstream media): The Harry Reid Do-Nothing Miracle Investment System! Through this system, you can sit back and watch the cash roll in from questionable desert real estate investments with the sort of reliability that only government can provide. The system is as simple as it is hidden through shell corporations, nepotism and political contributions. Yes, there are just three easy steps to mogul-like millions in Las Vegas real estate:

1.      Find a parcel of land made undesirable by government environmental regulation, utility leases, or simple pesky zoning!

2.      Hire a Reid, invest with a Reid, contribute to a Reid, but above all, know a Reid!

3.      Be patient while Sen. Harry “Papa” Reid does NOTHING UNUSUAL on your behalf and watch those government barriers to wealth melt away!

Got a stupid endangered tortoise on your worthless land? Let Harry Reid show the BLM a real “shell game” as that value-killing protected habitat is inexplicably moved miles away!

Want to build a primo strip mall in a residential area? Just have a “Casino Lawyer” drop Papa Reid’s name like a severed horse’s head into the silk sheets of local government. Bada-bing! The zoning changes almost as fast as the value of the land!

Bought thousands of acres of land ruined by a pre-existing government power line lease? Just pick up your personal “power line” to Harry Reid and watch with glee as he does NOT use his influence to push a special bill through Congress. ZAP! The federal right-of-way is moved right out of your way … instant millions!

Think these are just hypothetical sales hype scenarios? No, these are these real life “Reid Estate” transactions.

Real Life Example No. 1: In the early 1990s a helpless corporation, Del Webb, wanted to realize its personal dream and develop some land outside Las Vegas. There was just one problem: the government owned much of it and it wasn’t for sale! Employing the simple Reid Estate wealth building system, Del Webb hired a former Reid aide, donated $18,000 to Harry Reid’s campaign fund and then did the obvious next thing: it purchased “environmentally sensitive” lands 400 miles away near Lake Tahoe. After two letters to the Interior Department from Sen. Reid and a personal meeting organized by him, at which a government employee said he felt “pressured” by Reid, the Interior Department allowed Del Webb and its partners to swap that environmentally valuable land near Lake Tahoe for the environmentally worthless (but commercially valuable) land in Las Vegas. Reid claims to have done nothing unusual.

BAM! Instant value. IT’S JUST THAT EASY TO MAKE MONEY IN REID ESTATE!

Real Life Example No. 2: In a remarkable coincidence, land adjoining the above “swapped” land was then sold by a Del Webb partner to … Sen. Harry Reid and his partner, Jay Brown. The transaction was at fair market value, Reid later stated. Mr. Brown, described by the Associated Press as a “casino lawyer” whose “name has surfaced in federal investigations involving organized crime, casinos and political bribery,” and Sen. Reid wished to develop the land as a strip mall—which would have a much fairer market value than the land they bought, which was zoned strictly residential. A Reid Estate rezoning was called for!

But first Sen. Reid sold his land (for the exact price he had paid for it) to “Patrick Lane,” a limited liability corporation created by Mr. Brown, in exchange for a share of that limited liability corporation. This move created no net value, but coincidentally resulted in Reid’s name being removed from the deed before Mr. Brown went publicly before the zoning board to represent Patrick Lane LLC, a corporation that somehow omitted Mr. Reid’s name from any of its public corporate filings.

When the first board rejected the rezoning as “inconsistent” with Clark County’s Master Development Plan, Brown appealed and the Clark County Zoning Board and the Clark County Commission overruled the decision. Coincidentally, Mr. Brown’s agent had stated to commissioners during the appeal, "Mr. Brown's partner is Harry Reid, so I think we have people in this community who you can trust to go forward and put a quality project before you." Strange—that Reid’s name was so carefully removed from legal documents and then dropped casually in the halls of government—and right before the commission overruled the previous decision. Well, the important thing is that the residential land Reid bought for $400,000 was soon sold for $1.1 million (Reid’s part) as a commercial property. And all because Sen. Reid did nothing unusual. That’s the power of the Reid Estate system! Let the wheels of government grind away your financial worries!

Real Life Example No. 3: But even the first two examples are nothing compared to the experience of one Harvey Whittemore, a simple lobbyist and long-time practitioner of the Reid Estate system. Whittemore inadvertently got a great deal on a 42,832-acre property once intended as a missile test range. The land was a development nightmare, because it was infested with the endangered Desert Tortoise and the entire road frontage along U.S. 93 was blocked by a mile-wide power line corridor leased to the federal government. Either one of these problems alone might take an act of Congress to solve. But Harvey Whittemore had that in mind all along! Whittemore understood the importance of “Step 2” of the system: “Hire a Reid, invest with a Reid, contribute to a Reid, but above all know a Reid!”—and he had all the bases covered.

"You have to understand how close the Whittemore and Reid families are," Whittemore told the Los Angeles Times. "My relationship with Sen. Reid goes back decades." In addition, Whittemore’s personal attorney is Leif Reid, the senator’s son. Rory Reid, another of the senator’s sons and head of the Nevada Democrat Party during the Clark County Commission’s decision to rezone his father’s property, was made a partner in Whittemore’s law firm. In fact, all four of Reid’s sons (Rory, Leif, Josh and Key) have worked for the firm during their careers. Whittemore has given tens of thousands of dollars to Harry Reid’s campaigns, thousands to Rory Reid’s successful campaign to be elected to the Clark County Commission, and thousands to Josh Reid’s unsuccessful bid to be elected to the city council of Cottonwood Heights, Utah.

Although neither Sen. Reid nor Leif Reid intervened on his behalf, according to Sen. Reid, the Bureau of Land Management gave Whittemore clear title to 10,000-acre rent-free lease constituting the Desert Tortoise Preserve in the middle of the site, in exchange for 10,000 acres on the eastern edge of the 5-mile by 13-mile tract. Local officials of the Interior Department objected to this minor “boundary adjustment” of the preserve, but were overruled by Washington. The Desert Tortoises, it turns out, were willing to move to the Mormon Mountains.

The federal power corridor was a bigger problem. But after Sen. Reid inserted a measure into a federal land bill opening up the property across the highway for the corridor, then repeatedly inserted a provision into bills to move the corridor across the highway, that pesky 15-square-mile corridor just disappeared. At first, this was to be a gift from the government to Mr. Whittemore, but after a minor stink was raised, Whittemore offered to pay $160,000 for the 15-square-mile improvement. Eventually, he was forced to pay the $10.4 million that government appraisers said the change was actually worth.

But that was still a bargain, since together the federal changes to the corridor and the Desert (and Mountain) Tortoise habitat freed up more than 20,000 acres of highway-accessible Reid Estate for a development that will eventually include 159,000 homes, 16 golf courses (several by Jack Nicklaus), and all the associated strip malls this new city will require. I suggest they call it “Tortuga Hills.”

But there was one last obstacle to clear. The EPA suddenly decided that bulldozing desert streambeds, as proposed, might be bad for the streambed environment. A flurry of calls from Sen. Reid arranged meetings between the EPA, Whittemore and Leif Reid. Nevada’s junior senator, Republican John Ensign, was enlisted in the cause, clearing the way for the senior senator, Harry Reid, to also become more directly involved in talking to EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson. Can you guess what the outcome was? That’s right—the system worked. The Harry Reid Real Estate Investment System, that is. The project proceeded with minimal changes.

There are other examples, as well. But you can see how this simple investment system, accessible by every citizen (no mater how unconnected), works to create millions and millions of dollars of new government-unleashed wealth for its practitioners

How successful is the system for its inventor, Sen. Harry Reid? So successful he doesn’t even remember how much land he owns anymore! He’s constantly “remembering” old parcels just before the ethics committee asks about them. Such oversight is often the result of “clerical errors”—just like Sen. Reid accidentally paying personal obligations with campaign funds was the result of “clerical errors.” “Clerical errors” are soon to be added as “Step 4” of the system: “What to claim upon getting caught using the system.”

In fact, the system is so successful that Harry Reid, that beacon of morality from Searchlight, Nev., can now stop worrying about money altogether, and concentrate on his true calling: fighting the “culture of corruption” in Republican Washington.

Get with the system! It works for Harry, Harry’s friends, Harry’s sons, and even Harry’s son-in-law—but that’s a whole other (998 acre) story. The system can work for you, too.

The Real Impacts of the Proposed Health Care Reform Bills

Lost Coverage

The proposed bills include a new government health plan – the “public option.” A public plan will lead many employers to drop private health coverage for their workers and push many of them toward the public plan, just as many employers in the 1990s pushed their workers into cheaper managed care plans. The result? Individuals will lose their existing coverage and private insurance would be crowded out of the market by the government.

According to independent analysis of the House bill by the Lewin Group, as many as 103 million Americans would end up in a public plan (assuming eligibility to the new exchange is open to all employers). The Lewin study also found:

·                  48 percent--almost half--of privately insured Americans would transition out of private insurance.

·                  About 88.1 million workers would see their current private, employer-sponsored health plan go away.

·                  Yearly premiums for the typical American with private coverage could go up by as much as $460 per privately insured person, as a result of increased cost-shifting stemming from a public plan modeled on Medicare.

Tax on the Rich and Small Businesses

The House bill includes a 5.4% surtax on over 2 million high-income Americans — about half of them small business owners. And that’s not all: President Obama would have the power to increase the surtax.

Go here to find out how many taxpayers will be affected in your state.

“The large tax increases proposed by House Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) would harm over a million small businesses, making them less likely to expand and hire new workers,” Heritage senior policy analyst Rea S. Hederman Jr. writes. “Congress should not pass large tax increases on businesses that would hinder employment.”

Tax on the Poor

A tax hike is coming for low-income workers too, cleverly disguised in the form of employer health care mandates, which both the House and Senate drafts of health care reform include. Here is how it works:

·                  These so-called “employer mandates” require employers to either pay a significant portion of their employee’s health care premiums or pay a new 8% payroll tax on top of existing taxes.

·                  Employers will be forced to cut employee wages to make up for these new taxes.

This mandate will hit low-income employees the hardest, as employers may be forced to lay off employees at or near the minimum wage.

Anti-Abortion Measure Passes, Then Fails, in House

The amendment said health care legislation moving through Congress may not impose requirements for coverage of abortion, except in limited cases.

AP

Thursday, July 30, 2009

WASHINGTON - An anti-abortion amendment to a sweeping health overhaul bill was voted down in a House committee late Thursday -- a dramatic reversal just hours after the measure initially was approved.

The amendment said health care legislation moving through Congress may not impose requirements for coverage of abortion, except in limited cases. It was approved in the Energy and Commerce Committee after conservative Democrats joined Republicans to support it.

But committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., invoked House rules that allowed him to bring up the amendment for a second vote, despite Republican objections.

This time, one conservative Democrat -- Rep. Bart Gordon of Tennessee -- changed his vote from "yes" to "no." And a second conservative Democrat who hadn't voted the first time -- Rep. Zack Space of Ohio -- voted "no."

It was enough to take down the amendment on a 30-29 vote.

As everyone now knows, Obamacare will include abortion. What is only now becoming apparent is that it will also promote euthanasia.

Steven W. Mosher

A Brave New America:
How the Obama Health Care Bill Will Lead
To Coercion At Both Ends of Life.

by Colin Mason

A few weeks ago, President Obama demanded that a national health care bill be on his desk before Congress's summer recess. Since then, frenetic attempts to ram the 1,000-page bill through Congress have all but collapsed, as more and more politicians on both sides of the aisle have balked. Obama has been forced to back off, even while reiterating that, without deadlines, “nothing gets done in this town.”
Meanwhile, the gigantic bill's ideologically hard-left, financially ruinous content is seeping into the public consciousness. And the outcry against Obamacare is growing in volume. This is especially true among pro-life groups, who are quite worried about what we see in the bill.

From our perspective, Obama's supposed "reform" of the health care system doesn't look like reform at all. Instead, it looks remarkably similar to some of the “health care” policies in nations whose focus is not on actual health care, but on population control, coercion, quotas, and rationing.

Abortion is an integral part of Obama's vision for universal health care. In the bill's current form, every taxpayer would have no choice but to pay for abortion with their tax dollars. The bill would also discriminate against medical practitioners who refused to perform abortions, practitioners who would face unemployment as a result. It would tear down existing state conscience clauses, overriding them with a federal abortion mandate. It would also put nearly all existing medical insurance providers out of business over time, gradually making Obama pro-abortion insurance the only insurance available.

In other words, this bill is the most potent push for abortion since the Roe v. Wade decision. Roe v. Wade simply made abortion-on-demand legal. Obama not only wants abortion to be available, he wants you to pay for it, advocate it and, if you are a medical practitioner, perform it, regardless of how strongly your pro-life sentiments are held.

How will the President and Congressional liberals pay for their trillion-dollar plan? They say that they will slash unnecessary costs, but the way the bill reads they will actually be slashing "unnecessary" people.
The groundwork for this was laid, unnoticed by pretty much everyone, in the recent stimulus package.

Betsy McCaughey, former lieutenant governor of New York and the chairman of the Committee to Reduce Infectious Deaths, was one of the only ones to notice the language. In a February 9th Bloomberg piece, she reported on a little-known insertion to the stimulus bill that said that “one new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor's decisions (442, 446).” As McCaughey points out, these types of provisions are nearly always code for health-care rationing for seniors.

The health care bill now being proposed takes these measures a step further. In section 1233, the bill says that the elderly shall receive an actual visit from a government official, who will conduct an “advance care planning consultation,” if “the individual involved has not had such a consultation within the last 5 years.” It goes on to outline what would be discussed at this “consultation,” subjects like “the intensity of medical intervention if the patient is pulseless, apneic, or has serious cardiac or pulmonary problems,” “the individual's desire regarding transfer to a hospital or remaining at the current care setting,” “the use of antibiotics,” and “the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration.”

At first glance, it may seem that the elderly, who may not be fully aware of their options, are simply being offered a spectrum of end-of-life treatments. But we at PRI believe that this is in fact an effort to deny the elderly such things. This language will allow meddlesome government bureaucrats into your home to pressure you to refuse—in advance—lifesaving medical care on cost-cutting grounds.
If this seems like an overreaction, consider the records of the political appointees who will be implementing this provision.

Take John Holdren, Obama's new science czar. Holdren has written quite explicitly in favor of mandatory population control. In a book (entitled Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment and co-authored with Paul and Anne Ehrlich of “population bomb” fame, Holdren speculates on how population control could probably be instituted without changing the American constitution.

In another noteworthy example, Kathleen Sebelius, Obama's new HHS secretary (replacing the scandal-ridden Tom Daschle), recently complained that most American insurance packages do not include abortion except in limited circumstances. Sebelius also drew fire from pro-lifers because of huge campaign donations that she received from the late abortion doctor George Tiller.

And then there is Obama himself, the most pro-abortion, pro-population control president we have ever had. He claims that his health care reform will not increase the national deficit by a single dime. This is, of course, utterly impossible, unless some major concessions are made in the quality of care that Americans receive. Seen in this way, the visit from a government-sponsored “practitioner” sounds less like a complimentary consultation, and more like a government cost-saving measure. It will be at this meeting that the government will decide whether or not a person is worth continuing to care for, or is simply “burdening” the system.

The question is this: Is Obama offering universal insurance to all Americans, but at the cost of health care? Does he think that Americans want universal insurance so badly that they are willing to give up their existing rights to medical care in order to get it?

As a divided Congress, an increasingly critical media, and plummeting approval ratings seem to indicate, the answer is a resounding “no.”

Obamacare called ‘euthanasia bill’

Critic: ‘Reflects regime worse than China’s one-child policy’

Web News WorldNetDaily

The proposed Obamacare national health insurance plan would dictate medications, treatments and mental health services, choose for you the coverages you are allowed to have and operate with real-time access to individuals’ bank accounts, according to a new analysis of the hundreds of pages of plans.
And it’s worse, a critic said, than China’s mandatory one-child policy.

"In the same way that the bill pushes elderly or the sick toward euthanasia, it is a pill that would cause economic suicide," said Mathew Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel. "It’s a euthanasia bill for America."

Members of Congress have admitted that they have not read the more-than-1,000-page plan, and Staver’s organization is one of the first to go through it and offer an analysis of what it would accomplish.

In the Liberty Counsel analysis, he notes that under Section 163, the government would be allowed to have real-time access to individuals’ finances, including direct access to bank accounts for electronic funds transfers.

Under Section 1308, the analysis finds, the government will dictate marriage and family therapy as well as mental health services, including the definitions of those treatments.

Under Section 1401, a Center for Comparative Effectiveness Research would be set up, creating a bureaucracy through which federal employees could determine whether any treatment is "comparatively effective" for any individual based on the cost, likely success and probably the years left in life.

It also, according to Staver, "covers abortions, transsexual surgeries, encourages counseling as to how many children you should have, whether you should increase the interval between children."

The plan would allow, in Section 1401, for the collection of information about individuals’ health records, both "published and unpublished," and will recommend policies to allow for public access to data.

"It reflects a repressive regime worse than China’s one-child policy," Staver told WND. "It’s going down the road for a government that manages the most intimate matters of your life regarding health and safety."

Further, the plan is created to be the "only game in town," he said. And as people age or get sicker, it includes mandatory "consultations" to end your life, he said.

The Liberty Counsel staff that did the research was concerned about some of the issues, and dug into the details of the proposal.

"What they found astonished us," the organization said.

In a commentary written by J. Matt Barber, who also serves as director of cultural affairs for Liberty Counsel, he said the result shows the influence of those who now surround President Obama.

"His choice of Harvard professor and self-styled ’neo-Malthusain’ John Holdren as ’science czar’ provides the latest and perhaps most trouble example of just how bad American really muffed it last November," he wrote.

"In the name of population control, Holdren has advocated both forced abortion and compulsory sterilization through government-administered tainting of the water supply. In a book he co-authored, entitled ’Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment,’ Holdren calls for a ’Planetary Regime’ to enforce mandatory abortions and limit the use of natural resources," he wrote.

Staver noted the dangers of such influences, such as Holdren’s suggestion to implant sterility capsules in girls at puberty, extracting them only when they obtain government permission to have children. For men, the discussion has centered around additives to water to cause sterility.

Barber wrote that Holdren has affirmed he believes there is "ample authority" under the U.S. Constitution for population growth to be "regulated."

"Even ... laws requiring compulsory abortion … could be sustained under the existing Constitution," Holdren suggested.

Nina May, founder of Renaissance Women, added to the arguments. She cited a 1948 Hitchcock movie about murder where the victim’s body is hidden in plain sight.

"The health care bill that Obama proposes has this theme at its core and has in its crosshairs, the Baby Boomer engine that is pulling the derailed economy as it takes its final lap toward retirement. In less than two years, Baby Boomers will begin retiring in multitudes, expecting to reclaim the hard earned money they have been paying into Social Security. But this Health Care Bill, HR3200, has other plans for them," she wrote.

"Those 65 and older will be required to undergo mandatory ’end of life’ counseling to determine if they are worthy to continue to not only live, but take much needed resources from those who are younger and more worthy to receive them. Counselors will be trained to discuss how to end life sooner, how to decline nutrition and hydration, how to go into hospice, etc.," she said.

"This will not be done without coercion. For those who have amassed assets enough to take care of themselves in their old age will have these assets confiscated in the name of fiscal responsibility, because by this time, every citizen will be entered into a national database under the guise of improved efficiency. This database will be run by a type of ’star chamber,’ appointed by the president, that will determine whether or not you deserve the much needed operation your personal doctor thinks you need," she said.

The Liberty Counsel analysis also pointed out the government would be allowed to ration health care procedures, prevent "judicial review" of its decision, tell doctors what income they can have, impose new taxes for anyone not having an "acceptable" coverage, regulate whether seniors can have wheelchairs, penalize hospitals or doctors whose patients require "readmission," prevent the expansion of hospitals and set up procedures for home visits by health care analysts.

Under Section 440, Liberty Counsel said, the government "will design and implement Home Visitation Program for families with young kids and families that expect children." And Section 194 provides for a program that has the government "coming into your house and teaching/telling you how to parent," LC said.

WND reported earlier when Betsy McCaughey, the former New York state officer, told former president candidate Fred Thompson during an interview on his radio program the health care plan includes consultations for seniors on how to die.

"One of the most shocking things is page 425, where the Congress would make it mandatory absolutely that every five years people in Medicare have a required counseling session," she said. "They will tell [them] how to end their life sooner."
The proposal specifically calls for the consultation to recommend "palliative care and hospice" for seniors in their mandatory counseling sessions. Palliative care and hospice generally focus only on pain relief until death.

The measure requires "an explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available."

Obama Democrats Will ‘Fix’ Our Health Care System By Destroying It

Gather a group of friends to attend your legislator’s Town Hall meeting in your district or state.

Andrea Lafferty

President Obama has failed in his attempt to pressure Congress into passing health care legislation by July 31st.  It took Obama six months to pick a dog for the White House, but he wanted Congress to rush through a massive overhaul of our health care system in just two weeks.

This legislation was on a fast-track until Americans began to call their legislators to complain about what is in the bill. The train to socialism has been slowed down due to citizen action! Now, Obama won’t get a vote until September or even October! We have a chance to kill this legislation. Citizens must confront their legislators at Town Hall meetings during the August recess!

Obama Democrats Will ‘Fix’ Our Health Care System By Destroying ItOn Wednesday, several Blue Dog Democrats announced a “compromise” agreement with Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Waxman regarding components of health “reform” legislation (H.R. 3200).  However, the broad outlines reveal few substantive changes to Democrats’ government takeover of health care.

Four Blue Dogs reached an agreement with Rep. Henry Waxman to cut $100 billion from the $1 trillion dollar bill. As former Congressman Ernest Istook points out, there is little difference between saying you’ll spent $900 billion instead of $1 trillion. It’s still a wasteful program that will nationalize our health care system – and destroy it.
House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has also criticized the Blue Dog deal.

He notes: “This ‘deal’ will increase health care costs for families, small businesses, and seniors, destroy jobs, and reduce access to quality health care.  It is a raw deal for the American people, and sadly, it proves once again that the so-called ‘Blue Dogs’ have no bite when they’re forced to choose between their constituents and the radical leadership of their party. The Blue Dogs involved in the ‘deal’ agreed to keep a job-killing employer mandate and a job-killing small business tax, as well as provisions establishing a government czar to make medical decisions that should only be made by patients and their doctors, gutting Medicaid, and slashing Medicare for millions of seniors, particularly in rural America.”

As more and more Americans learn about what’s in the Senate and House bills, the more angry they’re becoming. They should be angry. Both bills (which are constantly changing), will totally destroy the best health care system in the world; undermine Medicaid and Medicare; push Americans out of their own health insurance plans into a government-run plan; fund abortion on demand and possibly even sex-change operations for transsexuals.

House Republicans recently offered a series of amendments in committee to the Nancy Pelosi version of Obama’s socialist plan. It is instructive to see the common-sense amendments that were quickly rejected by the Democrat leadership.

Democrats rejected an amendment that would have required Members of Congress to enroll in the “public” health insurance plan that will be imposed on all Americans. They’re willing to force all Americans – except themselves – into a socialized system!

They also rejected an amendment that requires Representatives to actually read the health care bill they’re voting on! Such irresponsibility is unprecedented!

Bottom line: Democrat Representatives don’t want to be enrolled in a socialized medicine system, but they want to force you into one. And, they don’t even want to read the health care bill before they rush to pass it.

Here’s a sampling of the reasonable protections and safeguards for Americans that were rejected in committee:

·                  Require all Members of Congress to get their health insurance through the proposed government-run plan.  Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) offered an amendment in the Ways & Means Committee that would have required Members of Congress to enroll immediately in the government-run health plan that would be established under the Democratic bill.  The Heller amendment was killed in the Ways & Means Committee at the behest of Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Rangel.

·                  Prevent taxpayer-funded health benefits from going to illegal immigrants.  Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) offered an amendment that would increase safeguards to ensure taxpayer-funded benefits do not go to individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.  This amendment, too, was killed at the behest of Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Rangel.

·                  Prevent taxpayer funding of abortion.  Reps. Sam Johnson (R-TX), Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Mark Souder (R-IN) offered amendments to remove language from the Democratic legislation that would result in American taxpayers subsidizing abortion-on-demand.  Speaker Pelosi and her committee chairmen killed all of these amendments.

·                  Specify that Congress should read the health care bill before voting on it.  Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) offered an amendment expressing the sense of Congress that Members of Congress should read the health care bill before they vote on it.  More than 80 House Republicans have signed a pledge vowing they will not vote to enact a health care bill they have not read and which has not been posted online publicly for at least 72 hours.  Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), by contrast, reportedly scoffed at the notion of reading the bill before voting on it.  The Brady amendment was defeated in committee at the behest of Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Rangel.

·                  Ensure Americans cannot be forced into a government-run health care plan.  Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite (R-FL) offered an amendment that would prohibit the federal government from automatically enrolling Americans in the government-run health plan that would be created under the Democratic health care bill, allowing Americans to choose whether or not they want to be enrolled in such a plan.  The Brown-Waite amendment was killed in committee at the behest of Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Rangel.

·                  Stop seniors from being stripped of their health care choices.  Rep. Brown-Waite offered an amendment that would remove portions of the Democratic health care bill that would cut the Medicare Advantage program.  Such cuts would impact millions of seniors nationwide, taking away their choices and forcing them into a government-run health care plan with fewer options.  The Brown-Waite amendment was killed in committee at the behest of Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Rangel.

·                  Ensure that workers who like their current health plan can keep it.  Reps. Judy Biggert (R-IL) and Tom Price (R-GA) offered an amendment to ensure that Americans who like their current employer-provided coverage can keep it by shielding such coverage from the costly and complex new mandates in the Democratic health care bill.  Under the amendment, employer-based health plans that comply with ERISA (the Employee Retirement Income Security Act), the federal law that makes it possible for millions of American workers to receive quality health care benefits and other benefits through their employers, would be considered as having met all of the mandates specified in the bill.  The Biggert-Price amendment was killed in committee at the behest of Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Miller.

·                  Prevent bureaucrats from making personal medical decisions for patients.  Rep. Phil Gingrey, M.D. (R-GA) offered an amendment in the Energy & Commerce Committee to bar federal political appointees and bureaucrats from intervening in patient treatment decisions.  The Gingrey amendment would have ensured patients and doctors remain as the sole individuals responsible for making these critical decisions.  Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) led Democrats in opposition to the amendment, which was defeated.

Obamunists Reveal True Objectives

It is clear from these rejected amendments that President Obama and his socialist allies in Congress want a health care system that:

·                                  Funds abortion on demand – and probably even sex-change operations

·                                  Provides health care services for illegal aliens

·                                  Will reduce Medicaid and Medicare services

·                                  Will force Americans out of their own insurance plans into a government-run program

·                                  Will force senior citizens into a one-size-fits-all, government plan.

·                                  Will have bureaucrats determining what treatments a physician can offer his patients.

Only six months into office, President Obama and his allies in Congress have seized control of our financial institutions and the automobile industry. Now, they want to nationalize our health care system and bankrupt us in the process. Obamunism must be stopped.

Republicans Speak Out Against Socialized Medicine

If you oppose higher costs, bigger deficits, less coverage, and more bureaucracy, call your Congressman today.

Andrea Lafferty

On July 28, 2009, Republican Representatives gave short speeches on the floor to protest the socialized medicine proposals being pushed by President Obama and the Democrat leadership. Here is a sampling of their statements:

Mr. BOEHNER. Mr. Speaker, the Democrats in Congress don't want the American people to see this chart. This is the chart that outlines the Democrat proposal, which is moving through the House of Representatives, that contains as many as 53 new Federal programs, agencies and commissions. That's right. They're trying to restrict Members of Congress from showing this to their constituents. They say it's misleading. Well, there's nothing misleading about it. They just don't want anyone to see it.

Republicans Speak Out Against Socialized MedicineWell, here it is. I'm using it. Are they going to turn out the lights? Are they going to turn off the cameras? Why don't they want the American people to see this?

Well, I think the American people deserve the truth about the Democrats' $1.6 trillion takeover of our health care system--more bureaucracy and more taxes, more mandates and more government involvement in your life. Guess what? It also means less jobs for Americans.

According to a model developed by the President's own Council of Economic Advisers' chairperson, this proposal will cost Americans some 5.5 million jobs over the next 10 years. The National Federation of Independent Business says that at least 1 million small business jobs will be lost. Over the weekend, even the Congressional Budget Office made it clear that this will cost low-wage workers an opportunity to get a job.

Listen, after the stimulus hasn't worked, most of my constituents are continuing to ask the question: Where are the jobs? We have a stimulus bill that's not working. We have a national energy tax bill that came through here last month that will cost millions of Americans their jobs. While this will ruin the health care system that we enjoy in America, let's not forget that it will cost us millions of American jobs when most Americans continue to want to know: Where are the jobs?

***

Mr. PENCE. Mr. Speaker, Republicans do support reasonable health care reform that will lower the cost of health care and health insurance for every American family and for every American business, but the Democrat plan for health care reform amounts to a government takeover of health care in this country, paid for with nearly $1 trillion in higher taxes.

The American people know what government-run health care will mean: higher cost, bigger deficits, less coverage, less quality, less choice, and more bureaucracy.

House Republicans have led the fight against this government takeover of health care, and now House Republicans and a handful of Democrats are on the verge of a historic victory for the American people and for our American health care economy, but we need your help.

If you oppose government-run health care, call your Congressman today. If you oppose higher costs, bigger deficits, less coverage, and more bureaucracy, call your Congressman today. If you want real bipartisan health care reform that lowers the cost and that addresses the real needs of our health care economy with American solutions, call your Congressman today.

***

Mrs. McMORRIS RODGERS. Mr. Speaker, we were told time was of the essence when we were considering the economic stimulus package. We were told we didn't have time to waste in passing the President's budget. Yet, despite the hundreds of billions of dollars in additional spending and despite the trillions of dollars in additional debt, we must ask: Where are the jobs?

Now we're told we must rush to pass health care reform, which will cost you more jobs, which will increase taxes and which will put a Federal bureaucrat between you and your doctor.

House Republicans believe in true health care reform that will reduce skyrocketing health care costs while protecting that very special doctor-patient relationship. True reform must make health care more affordable by reducing costs by rooting out waste, fraud and abuse and by reining in frivolous lawsuits that cost families millions of dollars each year in higher premiums--true health care reform that challenges Americans to be healthy and to invest in health information technology.

Let's take the time, and let's work together to get the right prescription for health care reform.

***

Mr. CARTER. Mr. Speaker, the Speaker of the House got up and said, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. That was when we were dealing with what they call the National Energy Tax. We called it cap-and-tax. But what was the reality? That particular bill passed by the Congress will result in job losses of 2.3 million to 2.7 million. It's predicted by 2035, 1.38 million manufacturing jobs will go overseas.

The number of job growths created by the Democrats thus far? Zero. None. What jobs was she talking about? Her job? We don't know. But we haven't seen the jobs. Where are the jobs?

And now we're looking at a health care plan which experts tell us between 4 million and 6 million more jobs will be lost and there will be no reduction in the cost to the American people. Let's get a health care plan that works and let's ask again, and again, and [Page: H8881]
again, Madam Speaker, Where are the jobs?

***

Mr. DREIER. Mr. Speaker, it's absolutely outrageous to say the Republicans want to do nothing on health care reform. We want to expand medical savings accounts; we want to do everything we can to build associated health plans so that small businesses out there working and struggling trying to create jobs in the private sector can come together and, in fact, purchase health insurance for their employees. We want to do everything that we can to allow people to, on the Internet, purchase health care insurance across State lines.

The fact is, it's no message machine or talking point to realize that the Congressional Budget Office has said that contrary to Speaker Pelosi's line, This is going to dramatically increase the cost of health care, and Robert Samuelson, no Republican he, in The Post yesterday said, If you listen to President Obama, his reform will satisfy most everyone. It will insure the uninsured, control runaway health spending, subdue future health budget benefits, preserve choice for payments and include quality of care.

He said these claims are self-serving exaggerations and political fantasies.

***

Mr. PRICE of Georgia.
Mr. Speaker, what was one of the major concerns with the nonstimulus spending bill and the national energy tax that have flown through the House? Well, you know what it was, Mr. Speaker. Nobody read the bill. So what should we do with this health care bill? Well, I would suggest that we read the bill; and as somebody has said already, There is just a draft form.

But what's in that draft? It would raise taxes on individuals, small businesses, and employers by $818 billion and spend $1.6 trillion to create a system that even the Congressional Budget Office admits would raise, not lower, health costs. The bill would ban the purchase of private individual health coverage as part of a government takeover of health care that independent entities confirm would result in over 100 million Americans losing their private, personal coverage.

The House Republicans are for health reform that works. We have a plan for reform that expands access to affordable health care and gives families the freedom to choose health care that fits their needs, not government needs. House Republicans support patients. We will oppose any plan that puts Washington bureaucrats between patients and the care they need. Fewer choices, higher costs, I don't think so.

***

Mr. SESSIONS. Last week I came to the House floor to discuss how this Democrat Congress is bankrupting America. They continue to force massive spending through this body that has led to record unemployment and record deficits for America. Well, they're set to do it again this week with health care reform.

Three years ago, Massachusetts set out to accomplish universal coverage just like what the Democrats want to do for all of America. So far, the facts are plain. Insurance prices are higher than expected, safety net hospitals are struggling more than ever, doctors cannot keep up with the increased demand, and some people without insurance still cannot afford care.

The State legislature is already exploring options for rationed care to control health care spending, which, in Massachusetts, is 25 percent higher than the national average. This is a dangerous precedent to follow.

Many in Massachusetts are still uninsured, costs are skyrocketing, and the State is going bankrupt.

Mr. Speaker, not a good prescription for America!

ALL president apologizes to Family Research Council

By Matt C. Abbott

I asked Judie Brown, president of American Life League, to comment on the latest media release from the Obama-loving, vomit-inducing Catholics United calling on the Family Research Council and the Stop the Abortion Mandate campaign to "suspend these efforts immediately," with CU's executive director Chris Korzen asserting that said efforts "pose perhaps the single greatest threat to the passage of health care reform."

Judie Brown's response:

'Catholics United has verbally excoriated the Family Research Council's factual campaign to expose the sordid pro-death underbelly of the Obama health care plan. By doing this Catholics United has united itself to those who promote evil acts like abortion and euthanasia while denying they are doing so. No single person or entity should call itself Catholic while embracing philosophies and actions that are the antithesis of Catholic teaching.

'I would recommend to Mr. Korzen, who speaks for Catholics United, that he understand that many of us have seen the actions of, while hearing the words of, President Obama, and have found an absolute disconnect between the two. Perhaps Mr. Korzen should pay closer attention. American Life League urges him to apologize to the leadership of the Family Research Council. As a practicing Catholic who is proud of her faith and her Church's teaching on the dignity of the human person, I will be apologizing to FRC for the shameful statements Catholics United has made because such statements are an insult not only to Catholics but to people of all faiths.'
