Computers in Libraries 2009 Conference Notes

Great session by Megan Fox, Associate Director, Technology & Special Projects, Simmons College Library.

"Although mobile is exploding with individuals, there are still few formal library initiatives." Megan reviewed a few interesting initiatives and talked about some of the more specific search tools.  She talked about how image/location/speech is being used in the mobile world
and what this means for libraries.

Meghan discussed the iPhone, blackberry, Google android, Palm pre (bringing palm back in as a player). One exciting initiative in camera features such as taking a picture of book and getting more information about it. (Snaptell)

Could we take a picture of a book in a bookstore and search the CAT to see if the book is available in the Libraries?
