Day Two Hundred and Eighty-Eight

We spent eternity apart.  And when our bodies are no longer
the caretakers of our spirits, we will once again spend eternity
being physically separated.  Nothing can stop this.  It is
the mandate of the Great Spirit.  But our souls will be
together forever—just as they are together now.

We sit beneath the checkered skies of a Sevillana spring, once again reflecting on the ways and workings of the creator.  Though we expect our souls to remain intertwined in some unforeseeable way beyond our last coordinated heart rhythms, we wonder if your day-to-day experience upholds that notion.  But our pondering is interrupted by a rattling thought:  Maybe you are laughing as you read, laughing all the way from the inside out at our sheer silliness, laughing at how we are expending the life diamonds that dropped into each tiny palm on our very first days, laughing at how we are trying in vain to understand what can never even be fathomed.

Actually, we pray that you are laughing…because that would mean that you have indeed transformed, that you have surpassed the earlier limits of yourself—and of us—and that you are turning your attention to the living.

Amen.
